Feels like the right time to start a new thread for next year's gigs.
John Mayer playing the 3Arena on 29 March 2024.
Watch the video! nothing he said was wrong written down in the context of the situation however he didn't read the room at all was some dope.
The Russian himself didn't have to vehemently declare himself so it ticked people off. How do you know he wasn't just a Russian settler?
What's not wrong about Flowers making assumptions of something he admitted a few seconds beforehand to have no knowledge about? He was wrong in my view perhaps not yours, fine.
Not in the UK, and not even in a far less populated Ireland. 10k too small.
Architecturally it’s also nothing like an arena, being an entirely flat venue with no seats surrounding. The retractable seats are only taken out for seated classical concerts and the like.
It’s used by acts who do a night there rather than two in Brixton. I’ve seen Pixies, Interpol, Paul Weller, Portishead and others there. None are arena acts. That’s not to say that the Fonts couldn’t sell out UK arenas but they’ve never tried.
Few announcements next week as wrap up before Christmas
Confirmed now as Sunday 25th August for APE
Friday or Monday for Dublin might happen
As before people have undoubtedly had enough of this. All points already made. PM me to continue.
That’s not true at all, in the past year both Kasabian and Paolo Nutini have both used it (and sold out) for example.
10,000 is firmly arena territory as far as capacity goes. The arena is Cardiff is less than that for example. You could say it’s not the same in terms of construction but Wembley Arena is only a few thousand more.
2 sold out nights at Brixton is also arena territory, that's why DMAs ended up up playing Wembley Arena earlier this year (due to Brixton being shut)
Any hints? Nothing yet on the Marquee or Iveagh Gardens. Hopefully be something early next year.
Nuitini did two nights there rather than do an arena. Kasabian played an actual arena (Wembley) the following month.
Ally Pally falls down both on capacity and the simple unarguable fact that it is not architecturally an arena.
Error
did Peter Aiken get a bang to the head ?!
On October 28th he said the 1st Marquee acts, would be announced by 1st week of November, more than a month later - nada, at this stage it is unlikely it will happen, as they missed out on the xmas pressie market completely, they always had 6 or more acts announced at this time of the year for the marquee.
Its not arena like in architecture yes......but for christ sake it is an arena capacity and feels like an arena when your there....
The utilia "arena" in Cardiff is a bloody sport hall ffs
Don't see the point in this debate
No it's fine you should just have watched the tape. I wasn't the one making assumptions it was all there.
I didn't think Russian occupation of Georgia was up for debate when I posted but there we are.
The end.
No point switching to PM. If we can't agree on basic facts then we're not going to agree on the nuances. Time to draw a line under it, I think.
Iveagh Gardens is still TBC with gigs at the venue potentially under threat from the consultation launched by the Office of Public Works due to deranged nimbyism.
Damn no AC/DC announcement today, one more week left if they want that Christmas Market
Billy Joel playing the Principality Stadium in Cardiff for his only 'European show of 2024'. He must want a Welsh cake
I take it both Cardiff and Nottingham do not have arenas then?
You should see the Westpoint Arena in Exeter. More like a warehouse
Not for those venues anyhow.
don’t think OPW has decided if it will iveagh comcerts next year or how many
Paolo for thomand park
Things I didn't expect to be reading about in the 2024 Gigs thread...
Absolutely. Cardiff is a sports hall with the ‘arena’ name tagged on.
There’s no arena in the UK or Ireland with a capacity of 10k or under. I’ve never hear All Pally referred to as an arena before. Simply because it isn’t, whether by definition (“a level area surrounded by seating, in which sports, entertainments, and other public events are held.”) or capacity.
Now that Earls Court has gone the only London indoor arenas are the O2 and Wembley Arena.
As per the post above I watched two videos and read widely on the incident. And please PM rather than continue discussion on this thread.
Saw Doctors doing a second date in the consistently unadventurous and mediocre lineup for the 2024 Galway Arts fest.
Strong local rumours on Chic (yes, again!) and Underworld being chased to play.
Yeah seems unusual there's such a delay. Dunno is it cos usual site is being developed and they haven't found a replacement one yet or what
Seems about right.
end of the day the big top needs to be profitable and can’t take risks with €100k a show
Wasn't expecting anything this side of Christmas for them. Hopefully next year assuming they're both still able to go ahead
Okay that's all I had signed off on it.
No need to PM.
You watched the clip and still clearly going to stubbornly cling to your beliefs that he didnt make a bum move. You are entitled to those beliefs.
Sepultura - Dublin & Belfast next November as part of their farewell tour.
9 - Olympia
10 - Telegraph
Guests; Jinjer,Obituary and Jesus Piece.
Agreed that they have to sell out but in the past six years they’ve put on the first west of Ireland gigs for The Flaming Lips, Pixies, Orbital, Caribou, Pixies and Pavement. A degree of risk to all in selling 3.4k tickets in a town of 80k but it worked out. 2024 though looks a bit bland but there’s always decent stuff in the smaller venues. Despite all that we’re lucky to have it, and now the airport gigs.
