Feels like the right time to start a new thread for next year's gigs.
John Mayer playing the 3Arena on 29 March 2024.
Always likely given he’s common as muck and doing R+L
All points east lcd day is solid
That's me told! Ha Saw promotion saying last arena tour was then so they were being fairly specific. Had forgot about Malahide and RDS. Sure if they're able to shift tickets who'd blame them. Easy sell for the promoters too
If there is no one told me, I've seen Frank turner 64 times......
It was a sarcastic comment based on the fact that they play here a lot, to the extent that like chic and Niles Rogers it has become a bit of a running joke in here, in fact there's literally a comparison of the 2 about 2 posts after mine.
I'm sorry you are incapable of detecting sarcasm on the internet, I believe Google are working on an app for it.
Very good but I actually prefer the Malahide lineup. They’ve done really well there.
You’re leaving out Pixies, also near-residents here.
That academy gig in 2008 was decent, tickets only went on sale a week before if I remember correctly, think I've met more people who were at it than could fit in the academy, and apparently Brandon Flowers was in 16 pubs and at 100 gaff parties at the same time......
And 00s Chili Peppers
Can’t stand idles
The Saw Doctors are the latest unimaginative announcement for Galway Arts Festival. No objections to it really if it helps to finance hydraulic dragons prowling down Shop Street, or whatever is the main free event next year. It would be nice to get at least one big name, first time in Galway, Big Top act though.
Makes it more likely that the last two yet to be announced gigs at Galway Airport will be second nights for Fatboy Slim and the Wolfe Tones, I guess.
There's 4 (artist, spotify, 3 and mcd) presales for Idles @ the Olympia before they go on general sale.
Does that mean a few hundred tickets per each sale?
That's going to be an awkward gig to get tickets to.
Be plenty the week of it floating about. Its not for 12 months. I've just started getting tickets the week of gigs the past 2 years since moving up here instead of getting them when they go on sale with the rate prices are going up
Yet to fail getting a standing ticket for a gig (all below FV aswell)
Them playing malahide with lcd Will damper sales. They did 3 nights in vicar so I’d say a second olympia will be added at least
rumours about LCD soundsystem for Galway, but that was before Malahide was announced so won't happen now.
Hozier maybe in keeping the Irish themed lineup?
Hozier\lcd too big for either Galway arts or airport. 5,000 cap for airport
Its a tiny venue for them these days and they have a big gap in touring schedule after it - I expect to see at least one date added
Definitely an acquired taste. Personally love ‘em and think they were by far the best act at EP 2023.
That’s almost certainly two nights for the Sawdoctors so four unadventurous to poor slots filled so far for the Big Top. Pretty lazy booking over the past three years, only Pavement of any interest last Summer with slots regularly filled by The Academic, Gavin James, BellX1, The Stunning, etc. I’m this not expecting more that one major decent act but there’ll be some goodies at the Róísín and Monroe’s.
The 2024 shows exact same dates as the 2022 shows. Went to the 2nd Malahide Castle show that year and it was great. Definitely be great gigs especially indoors
No AC/DC announcement 😢
Isn't the booker for the Roisin also the booker for the GIAF?
Yeah but doesn’t mean he can either afford to or get “adventurous” acts for it
The Killers are a great band, Brandon obviously a great front man, just a shame they devalue themselves by playing so often. Should do it more like Arctics
Don’t know if anyone mentioned but Killers tickets are from €82 (off 3 Arena website) so realistically €90. Tenner increase on Malahide tickets
Wonder will these sell out with all the other gigs already going in June
From is key word there. Would expect the better seats and general standing to be higher than €82.
when it comes to the killers probably guaranteed that these shows will move quickly
Yes. Easy to be adventurous with a 280 capacity venue but they rarely take risks with the 3,400 capacity Big Top.
Malahide went on sale in 2019 pre covid so not a dramatic increase over 4 years.
Very stacked time of year for it alright!
Hawkwind coming to Belfast, Mandela Hall April 8th.
Would’ve been nicer putting it on Jan to Apr or Sept to Dec when it’s quieter and less massive acts around but I guess they’ll be doing some festivals around the place. Still be a great show on the Saturday
Have to say, I'm very excited to see The Killers in an arena and on a weekend too
Perhaps, like many of the early fans from 20 years ago, life can get in the way and recent years shows like Malahide midweek and EP just weren't options
Saw them 07 Roskilde, 08 Marlay and 17 in the Point - the Point stands out in my memory but maybe because of time and festival haziness!
Anyway, people like me will definitely be jumping on this, plus the fact it's touring a Best of album adds to the appeal
We need Frank back in Dublin
