The reality is Onana has been calamitous and United would have been better off sticking with De Gea this season and seeing if the Turkish lad they picked up to back-up Onana was up to anything when he settled in. In a team that’s in so little control of games there’s no question that De Gea is a better fit when you’re letting a comical number of shots fly at the goal. The obsession with constantly playing out from the back seems to have only made United’s ill-fitting defence even less coherent.
Between Antony, Casemiro, Mount and Onana, Ten Hag has wasted a prodigious amount of money on turkeys in 12 months even by United standards.
Much like the way some people keep shïteing on about Mick when talking about Kenny, De Gea is demonstrably not the solution either. The solution is a keeper that's better than both. De Gea absolutely needed to be upgraded upon, they just choose badly. There's always a strange desire in some quarters to look back instead of looking forward, which is particularly mad when 'back' in many cases wasn't good enough either.

Auditorium - just about OK. Lots of people had a hard time finding their seats though and getting phone torches out in the almost non-existent house lighting to try to find the little labels. Tiering was a low angle so initially it seemed I would have a great view of the back of a tall guy's head, but it turned out he was in the wrong seat and was replaced by a shortarse...
Bar - staff did their best but it was chaos, a lot of punters went home thirsty with money in their pockets they'd rather have spent. You'd think a venue would see the revenue potential lost here. The space available was just about adequate but there was zero organization.
Toilets - disaster. Well, my wife thought it was great as there seemed to be only about five females there 😁 but ffs the gents was inadequate for a crowd of 200 never mind 2000.
I know the Stadium is a historic venue etc etc. but it's totally inadequate by modern standards. Thin Lizzy, Horslips, Led Zeppelin, Rory Gallagher, etc. etc. only played there in the 1970s because Dublin was completely shít for venues and this was a well justified complaint even into the early 00s long after these acts finished.
Even a well managed old venue like the Olympia is, today, far better for getting in/out and accessing toilets and bars. Really the best thing that can be done with the National Stadium is knock it flat and start again.
I hope they never go back there. I paid €40+ to stare at the back of Eoins head in a very uncomfortable seat.

Big Sam never really got the crowd inside. Hard to see that podcast ever going out.
There was some booing at one point from a few which seemed completely arsey. But yeah it's a venue I'll make sure to avoid from now on no matter who or what is there
Didn't exactly help that to get there we took bus - Luas - another Luas - another bus. At least all within the €2 fare. Going home we got a bus into city centre and one more home which was grand. There are theoretically more direct buses but who in their right mind is going to put their hopes on a once every 45 mins / 1 hour service with all the cancellations going on with driver shortages.
Couldn't believe how bad the toilets were and TBH I'm really not sure how the Stadium has a fire certificate. Took ages for people to get out when it was over, an emergency didn't bear thinking about.
I had tickets to this but sold them cos I wanted to go to something else. Sounds like I made the right call 😬

What you've described there in relation to public transport was a major factor in why I didn't bother getting a ticket.
Board Gais Energy Theatre is a lovely venue and is fairly easily accessible by Luas. Was there for Off Menu and was very impressed by the place. That'd suit them for larger shows

Guests were Brian Kerr, some boxer I'd never heard of who went on the piss in New York, and Sam Allardyce.
Well anywhere else really 😁 modern venues are easy to get in and out of and get to the bar and get to the toilet!!! The last two mean that they make a lot more money but punters are happy to spend it, they want a good night out and a few beers. The Stadium is a complete dump, yeah it had a history but its time is gone.

National Stadium is a fairly shite venue alright, wasn't at SC but at a gig. Jacks was tiny and bar was hidden away and cans only.
Olympia isn't much better, was upstairs there and your knees are pressed up again the row in front. Zero room.
I've often thought that toilets should be dynamic in venues so when the crowd is dominated by one gender, they can simply move an internal divider and give more space. Queues in Bord Gais can be terrible too depending on the crowd. I was there for Dirty Dancing and it was mainly women and their queue was massive.
Or just have unisex bathrooms.
One large bathroom for cubicles. One large bathroom with just urinals.
Been to gigs in France where the women just take over the cubicles in all the toilets.
