Has Sliders on Quay street closed or been closed for long if it has?
Seems to be closed about a month, not particularly surprising, often very quiet, ate there once over a year ago and was not impressed whatsoever.
As ya said not overly surprising having said that I never ate there myself just noticed it wasnt operating last time I was in town.
Yep saw it confirmed in the Galway grub Instagram page.
Noticed yesterday that the ex Treasure Chest shop is up for lease.
Also Roosters is closed for winter, Avenue cafe is gone, and Sliders.
Where was Avenue cafe? Never heard of it or saw it.
That the one at the corner across from Tigh neachtains? The one with the neo Street food?
That's one of those premises where anything that opens seems to die. Looking back on street view, everytime you change the year it's a different business (or nothing)
That's the one. There for three years, according to this: https://www.openingalway.com/2020/08/avenue-cafe-restaurant-high-cross-street-galway.html
A bit like the unit located at the corner of Francis Street and St. Anthony's Place where Brazco Coffee is now. Each time interval on Google Street View seems to show a different business that tried its luck there (not including one or two random doughnut enterprises that occupied it for a while).
Wasn't it a lingerie shop for donkeys years? It seemed to be there forever but maybe I'm forgetting older businesses and that was a while ago now.
I can see it on street view in 2009, gone after that though so gone about 14 years.
In Oranmore Supervalu opens on Wednesday and The Thatch opens on Friday. Still a quite spot, Oranmore ;-)
Oh I missed this, supervalu is back in oranmore?.
Yep - You might recall Tesco took over all the Joyces but the Competition Authority said that one couldn't be a Tesco. When Joyces were there they had 3 units to make up the whole shop so there was a bit of hassle getting it all sorted. Musgraves themselves have taken it over. They might franchise it out down the line. It has been slowly changing over in the last few weeks. I'm looking forward to the Butcher and Fishmonger side of it. Not that the one there was bad but Supervalu have a bit more buying power and selection.
SuperValu are decent at stocking a selection of small local suppliers too.
Moore’s Butchers in Terryland closed down last weekend .
Across from tescos??
Thats Tormeys. He means in the Dunnes Terryland Centre.
Apparently this wasn't seeing enough foot traffic to make it viable. I find it strange with Dunnes right there but I guess people must be choosing to get their meat in the supermarkets and save a few quid over a butchers.
They have a planning application on the window to change the use of the building from restaurant to bar/distillery. My guess would be that they never put this planning application in when they first opened, and now have to close until its approved?

Yes, Sorry, I should have said "Dunnes Store Terryland" rather than just Terryland.
Dunnes are also starting to have James Whelan Butchers in a lot of their stores.

Mobile Phone Repair Shop going into Richard Hughes in Woodquay
Was hoping it might be a vape shop or cafe, ah well.
Supposed to be in Knocknacarra Dunnes since November I remember reading. There's no more 'coming soon' signs about it in-store anymore either. I wonder did it fall through?
They spent all their budget on PizzaList
Electric nightclub reopening in the new year.
I've heard that before! I see some realtor group have it posted on Instagram.
