Feels like the right time to start a new thread for next year's gigs.
John Mayer playing the 3Arena on 29 March 2024.
with the amount of potential 20th anniversary tours next year of some of the greatest indie albums ever I'd say they A) were scraping for headliners and B) saw the pie slices getting smaller. Never been but i've heard good things.
Reckon there could be a few more? Thought it was a good time for a festival with the August bank holiday but guess they've recent competition from ATN. Seems there's lot of festivals and outdoor gigs so wonder is market close to saturised. Guess there will be new ones popping up and old ones taking a break/finishing up.
Radio nova suggesting Richard ashcroft in st.annes Park....he played olympia last time he was here.....would have to be a big under card to shift tickets for that id imagine
He announced a hometown show in Wigan yesterday
I assume he's playing on the running track pitch arena area, there's grim and then there's robin park as a concert venue grim...
Saw them in the Olympia in 1998 on the Munki tour. A grim experience for an uber fan like myself. They looked and sounded like a band on the verge of splitting up. Which they did four months later. I'm sure this will be better!
JAMC and The Bug announced on the same day. I rarely get excited, but today i am 😁
Pity The Bug is on the same night as Conflict but i'll be opting for the heavy bass over the anarcho-punk i think.
Ye I googled the wigan venue yesterday and thought I had it wrong....looks terrible
It is terrible, area is a traffic fustercluck, that said, there's not much else really apart from the dw that's suitable round there and he's a long long way from the level he was at when the Verve peaked.
But if anyone is a massive fan and wants his home gig, cheap flight to manchester, get a train to wigan off peak for about 8 quid and get a budget hotel nearby for the night. There's then the joys of King St after too.
kinda tempted now but herself would kill me if i went to King St.
I’m sure a bunch of smaller ones may be dubious for next year.
no word emanating from body and soul or whatever version they present next year maybe totally different to previous
Oh wow, that's a line up...
Idles also doing the Olympia in nov
IDLES playing 3Olympia on 19th Nov too.
Class
That's a class line up in fairness
Wednesday night which some will complain about
I always thought Munki was an underrated record, it's a bit all over the place but it's a fun listen.
I can imagine the tension at the time aright. They seem to like\tolerate each other now.
Wouldn't bother me so much only have Manics /Suede the following Tuesday.
Great line-up though, will be worth the effort
Thanks. Picked up a ticket. Had a ticket for Crystal Palace in August but couldn't make it in the end. Delighted to have the chance to see them so soon after missing out before.
One for the punks! The Courthouse in Bangor next May.
Ticket from €70 plus ticketmaster fees so really €77
That's actually decent.
How long would Idles and YF be playing for? 30 minutes max? Has to be a very early start i imagine. Wednesday is putting my lot off tbh. A nice long Saturday would have been great.
Idles probably do 45 mins or so
Sting was a 4 act mid-week bill last summer and I think his son got about 20 minutes, Lyra got 30 minutes, then we got slightly over an hour of Blondie and 90+ minutes of Sting.
Gates were billed to open at 5PM but opened earlier and we were leaving the carpark around 11:15PM.
45 minutes for both young fathers and idles. **** robot Will dj in between those and lcd. Would reckon schedule will look like
doors 5pm
**** robot 5:30 - 6:00
young fathers 6:00:6:45
**** robot 6:45 - 7:15
idkes 7:15 -8pm
**** robot 8-8:30
lcd 8:30-10:30
LCD will undoubtedly be playing Glastonbury the Saturday following the malahide. Other stage headline for sure
...
Kings of Leon have been dropping lots of hints about a new album next year. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them tour here at some stage in 2024.
MGMT have a new album coming out too. Would love if they toured here.
MGMT that's a blast from the past. Remember Heineken had free gigs with them playing yonks ago here
Idles playing Dublin Olympia 19/11/24
Belfast Telegraph building 17/11/24
