Coming off the comments from both minister for justice Helen McEntee and "prime minister equivalent" (can't be bothered typing the Irish word) Michael Martin claiming "Dublin is a safe city".

First attack last Wednesday on Talbot St.

The government attitude to law enforcement is proving particularly stubborn in evolving with the times.

Despite a supposed new station open on O'Connell St (which they were basically sandbagged into by Fran McNulty of RTE Primetime), and claims of modifications in the police force and even bringing in an external commissioner - there's been no real changes in urban policing, in Dublin or any other city I've been.

Radical reform, at this stage it would be fair enough to say, is in order.

What exactly is the hesitancy?

Is it the RUC's reputation from years ago whilst they were sanctioned to carry fire arms and other weapons, avoiding a repeat of that?

Have you been unconcious for the last near decade? Growing housing crisis, healthcare capacity, prison capacity, staff shortages left right and centre, growing homelessness, it's a long, long list related directly to the arrival of hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of extra people into an environment wholly below functioning capacity.

Are you here to trot out the supremely stupid "just build more..."?

Would you apply that "logic" to any other part of life? A bath runs over so the problem is the bath? So much food put on a plate that its all over a table, so the problem is the plate? Too many people arrive to a concert, so the problem is the venue? You've put on so much extra weight, so the problem is your clothes? Some person arrives uninvited in to your home, so the problem is your home isnt big enough? And so forth.

No. Nobody above the age of 4 would apply that backwards arse logic to anything.

Add in the likes of housing scarcity resulting in increased rents and purchases, hotels and industrial units being turned into migrant accommodation at huge cost née profit depending on the giver and receiver, reit schemes with government guaranteed rent backs, the recycling of public money into private money via government competition with private citizens in housing purchases, increased artificial labour pool with the inevitable consequence of reducing costs née profits, siphoning of public money into para governmental groups grown around migration, and I have no doubt whatsoever to your allusion on "brown envelopes" up the wazoo too.

I'm not trying to list every last thing or put it in detail, i simply dont need to. The fact of ludicrous amounts of money being linked intrinsically to migration is just staring everyone in the face.

Not to mention the indirect effects of that profiteering, neatly summed up as "overpopulation and its effects". For example, as in the thread title, the occurrence of violence predicated no doubt on the burgeoning resentment towards it. Non-specific to start, more specific as time goes.

I can't comment on that particular story, but the media in this country wobbles between inept and compromised.

That there is a concerted effort to maintain a very particulat narrative is unquestionable. The burying of the lede on the children being stabbed, the rapid iconic status of the hero migrant while others couldnt be forgotten quick enough, it all paints a very accurate picture.

Add in the censorship legislation being rushed in to protect the migrant economy from criticism and you have a bingo.

Of course voices are going to get louder, of course it's going to get more violent. What else could ever possibly have happened with such rampant fookery?

Yeh see this is a failure of planning more than anything else.

They turned large parts of the inner city in to Ballymun at it's worst essentially with social housing everywhere and more been added all the time and with it comes the social problems. On top of that there is so much homeless accommodation in the north inner city and drug treatment clinics.

You won't find anyone in the area surprised little gurriers are hanging around.

You add it all together and it's not a nice place. What do they honestly expect? They've turned the north inner city in to an absolute hell hole and it's infected the whole place.

A lot of the trouble is self inflicted by bad decisions.

Unlike any other capital in Europe it's all centralised in the middle of the city. The consequences are there for everyone to see and have been for a while now.

True. We hear so much about mixed developments, but the north inner city is still heavily populated with social housing and treatment centres and homeless hostels.

They need to uproot them and move them out of the city centre, spread them out further afield and allow the centre to flourish like it does on the southside.

But its too much of a political hot potato for any govt to admit the policy has failed and fix it.

The result is that nobody, that doesnt need to, will cross north of the river, save to goto the airport.
