Tis like the staffroom in the samaratons on here today.
You are getting a bit of a hammering again
they do say three's a charm and along you came..... another piebald who hasn't a clue. only looking for an argument your tired go home. 😴😴😴😴
You didn’t see the news today obviously where dairy farmers incomes are down 60 percent compared to last year. What do you expect. Lots of farmers getting sick of it. Entitled to bitch about it to fellow farmers. We still have to pay contractors, vets 30 other entities 100 percent of what they got last year and more in some cases along with some farmers having to cull in calf cows to keep Brussels happy.
Did ya not see the news today where dairy farmer income is expected to be up 46% next year.
If lads get that into their head stupid money will paid again for land again and the culling to please Brussels will be diminished somewhat in the hope of a year like 2022
To be honest I didn’t see that, it was the headline figure of 60 percent I’d seen. Are you a dairy farmer?
Throwing my mod hat here again but can please get some discipline into our posting again as this thread is gone awful negative. These comments are intended to apply to everyone not any particular poster
1 avoid personal comments about other posters and their situations.
2 dont refer back to previous posts other s have made in the past in order to discredit them or undermine them .this envitabily ends in a pointless tit for tat.
3 if someone annoys you don't bother talking to them.
4 there is nobody right here and nobody is cleverer than anyone else.it may seem to be important to be right or even righteous but it is actually more important to be tolerant and be humble.
5 I fully accept that my own posting style is not perfect and I will try to do better.
6 it's a b#t#h of year in alot of yards and things are far from easy but can this forum not provide a bit of escapism and information rather than piling on more misey and negativity.
If anyone has anything else to add feel free
I'm off for a couple of days this evening. Has been a tough year, added to by the stress of dealing with bank and building. Another few days away booked in January. Great to get away and clear the head and be refreshed facing back into it.
Enjoy & most important to get away
If you can leave the phone after you as well
My dad is laid up atm. He calls me a few times a day for a chat. Phone will be with me. Might leave it behind on next trip
Youll have xmas party for my farmwalk too enjoy
Enjoy whelan you've had an extra busy year mentally and physically by the sounds of things. Looking forward to getting a couple of days myself in the new year.
New EBI figures are out and the Munster bovine website has been updated.
I was only highlighting that after a **** year, the powers that be are bigging up the industry galore now and that we'd be awash with money again. I find it highly coincidental that after bad news galore and as farmers face into a quieter time, it's all talk of the improvements coming down the track. A more cynical man would say it's to gee up farmers to face into the whole lot again come calving and dangling the carrot of cheaper inputs and higher outputs as a way to do it. Plus it would take your mind off all the negatives.
Edit: I see a Teagasc Dairy Conference on today too. Watch for more good news stories throughout the day
Of course it is its for that reason only 🙄 its ridiculous that a state body that can't govern itself properly would publish wishful thinking data like that for all agricultural sectors. the way it was announced you'd swear beef sheep and tillage lads only had to look out the kitchen window in the morning and they're minted......
If incomes drop 60% one year, and increase by 46% the next year, they are still only at 58.4% of the first figure
100->40->58.4
That's not what the headline will be though! The public will be told incomes rose by 46%, with average income of 80 something thousand. And Joe/Jane public will say farmers are minted and none of their tax money should go to them. Even this year with the 60% drop the headline figure issomething like 55k income. Not a mention in the headlines it doesn't include labour and other costs! The farms orgs should be going bananas at the misrepresentation of the figures
It’s profit monitors that have fecked the whole thing, no one should be filling one out for teagasc to misrepresent incomes.
Its basically the same as any other business posting gross profit as opposed to net profit.
Even within agriculture there's discrepancies. Some sectors are more likely to have companies set up and different acreages allotted to each company but all under the same directors. Bps payments were done this way so as to bring the high headline names back below the radar and to keep more of the payment. Do the teagasc figures just get the average land area and income off one of the companies set up?
I see farmers journal surveys and you can bet the farmer gives the results of just one company to get favourable results to publish for whatever sector they're in. Depends on author of article too.
Got text from Tirlan to phone milk manager if I needed help filling out the new fixed milk price contract. Neither will be happening.
Last year was once in a lifetime, 58% of that will do the finest.
Fairly certain this data is from national farm survey data and not profit monitor. The data is published due to EU rules around sectors that receive direct EU funding. The same reason why individual farmers direct payments are published
Fire lighter is all those fookin yokes should be used for ….tegasc misuse and misrepresent us putting info from them out there …..no body should be entertaining them
Tegasc and profit monitors are used as well
I agree with you and to take it a step further where in any other industry would you see an sectoral advise body publish a businesses sensitive information. VOLUNTARILY.
Like its not even farmers releasing the information.
Absolutely 💯
But …..the tegasc poster boy farmers give this info to them ….I point blank refuse to do them
The problem is Teagasc are an arm of the state. They are not “for” farmers, they will implement government policy at any cost to farmers.
They do and its ridiculous 🙄
Here's good news as promised
Charlie said so, therefore, plough on. Nothing to worry about
