We should probably start a thread on this fight/event.
Anybody going?
When it all calms down, I wonder how upset Cameron will really be if it goes to a 3rd fight in a bigger arena
Cameron maybe a touch unlucky with the clash of heads/cut and the "knockdown". 3rd fight will be hard to call
Disgrace this fight was not on an Irish station. RTE late to update there side bar of the outcome but would have a red breaking none news story at the bottom of the page in minutes.
Great display by Taylor, huge improvement on May.
Cameron will feel unlucky. Not giving the knock down was a very poor decision and it may have changed the fight.
I doubt Croke Park is a runner for a third fight, there were still tickets for this one available a week or so ago afaik. But it’d still be nice if it was in a bigger arena.
Walshb is an absolute cod. Never willing to offer an opinion on the score during a fight. Only before and after as it's a safe space
Cameron stomped on her foot. It was lucky that there was a referee
They reduced the price of alot of the seats about 2 weeks ago to sell it out.
They were reduced from 500+ to 150.
The prices were outrageous to be honest 700 and 500 euro for 20 minutes of boxing .
They could charge less in Croke Park, but what would you see in a venue that big and imagine if they both wear the same colour outfits again lol.
The live blog on the RTÉ website said she won within about 10 seconds of the scores being called.
Croke Park do not want a boxing match due to the potential security minefield.
Big question I have is who in gods name sent them out in same outfits looking like twins
…….. AGAIN !
Genuinely delighted for her. She was denied the chance to fight in Ireland for ages and then gets her first loss when it finally happened. She must have been so down after that defeat and I'll admit I did not see her turning it around in the rematch. The mental toughness she showed to come back and win with possibly her career on the line is remarkable.
A truly great athlete and ambassador for Ireland. Not sure how realistic Croke Park is but regardless she has finally gotten her big moment in Ireland and nobody deserves it more.
Disappointing result, but thems the breaks.
Watching that first round again a few times , Katie got home town advantage with that slip call by ref. Imho it was a knock down, BUT I felt she just did enough over the next 9 rounds to beat her. Cameron will win a 3rd match.
You do what it takes to win within the rules
Cameron was supposed to win tonight too. Katie underperformed in the first fight I thought.
Hopefully Katie will retire now, she has nothing left to prove to anybody.
No chance. Too much money to be made in a 3rd fight
Serrano would say otherwise…..
Really pushing for the 3rd fight in Croker. Shes not retiring. Nice to see Hearn basically telling a journo to shut up asking about McGregor in the presser.
Still dont know about the knockdown. Cant see if her foot was stood on with the rope in the way and I havent seen another angle. It looks like Cameron didnt step on her but Katies toe may have clipped Camerons foot on the wy back.
People going on if it was a shock. She was 7/5 hardly a massive upset.
Croke Park shouldn't even think about not having. What the people want the people should get. And we all want Katie to get her big payday before she retires.
Croke Park has been granted over one hundred million euro of taxpayers money.. It shouldn't be a GAA stadium, it should be a national one.
What a daft post in several ways.
Stop spouting pony. Plenty times I have scored fights during the rds. Quite odd you’d come on to “point” out what you did, as if it is meant to “mean” something. I’m kinda flattered, with your weird attention!
Agreed. I had Cameron to win, and thought she could stop Katie. I re-watched fight 1 yesterday, and changed my view. I posted this. Fight 1 was close as regards punches landed. Key difference was physical pressure for Cameron.
This fight, Katie out-landed Cameron, but the physical pressure was still there. Cameron is quite slow with her hands, and last night, Katie’s hand-speed exploited this.
It was an exciting fight, but awful scrappy as well. Lot of spoiling/holding done by Katie. It was part of her game-plan..
Are you for real?
Every taxpayer has put money into that stadium whether they were for or against it.
What else besides that do you find daft?
If she'd any sense she'd retire
"What the people want the people should get" .....
Fair play to Katie, I thought she would struggle and would have been up against it from Round 1 - should never have doubted her.
Not sure about Croker - the demand isnt there and the price points for tickets will make it difficult for the casual observer to get bought in. There's a bit of an echo chamber about this forum as you'd expect and potentially in some of the groups that people move in but I don't see the numbers making sense.
If Hearn wants it there that badly "for Katie" he needs to pony up a bit more cash for security.
As for Corke park being a "national" stadium - it has hosted everything from GAA to American Football, to Soccer to Rugby to concerts and conferences - Croke park is open to hosting whatever makes financial sense - thats the issue here for Hearn. Croke park are open to doing it.
No chance. Win, lose, draw she wasn’t retiring.
You've hit it on the head, if the security costs are covered (and of course if the Guards agree to it going ahead ...) then I also think Croker will be up for it. Mind you that's going to be an expensive operation I would imagine ...
Agree , you could feel Cameron's body shots when they landed on Katie, but I haven't seen Katie as fast with her fists in years. Katie seemed to neutralise the Cameron jab that worked so well in the first fight.
