thanks, will do.
Is it safe to charge using granny cable when it rains? The EV charger not set up yet. So, I was wondering if the granny cable can be used to charge the car.
€10,000 for a replacement battery isn't as bad as I would have thought and that's for an LR.
4.5 hours to do the job isn't too bad either.
Yes, as long as the 3 pin socket bit of it is protected from the elements and dont leave the electronic bit of the granny cable sitting in a pool of water. The cable and connector at the car are weatherproof.
A model S battery replacement takes 8 minutes if you ask Tesla! I'd completely ignore that €10k, Tesla throw anything onto an invoice just to have a log of parts required. If it's €10k to replace a battery then it would be headline news
Hi Folks,
I just got an email to say my model 3 has just been added to my account. I only bought the car a week ago, I didn't know I had an account, did the dealer set this up I know I didn't and do i need to do anything?
Yep. That’s what I posted before the posted you quoted 👍
Have you got the Tesla app?
can you see it there?
When selling a second hand Tesla, the old owner has an option within the app to nominate the new owner by providing their name and email address.
Give you an idea
Super, thanks so much Gumbo.
Can I mention a few small issues I have to see if they are common issues;
Thanks Gumbo.
Also, I've downloaded the app on my phone and have put in the vin and it has asked to give my screen profile a new name which I've done, I'm having problems connecting the car to the internet in the house but what also seems to have happened is that I lost all the settings I had saved e.g seat and steering wheel position etc once I changed the profile name does this sound right to you?
Seat settings etc are assigned to your profile. So once you change profile then those settings go.
With the Tesla you can log into any Tesla car and your setting will come down from the cloud so you should have just the one.
Can I also ask advice on charging please, the car is telling me I should charge to full 100% once a week, should I do this, it's a 221 reg rwd?
Yes. It’s an LFP battery.
Thanks Gumbo. Why is this the case for LFP battery when you hear things all the time about only charging other batteries to 80%?
It's to do with chemistry, other chem batteries do not like the stress of high state of charge an it is a factor in advancing battery degradation, LFP chem encourages it and healthy for battery longevity.
Thanks Slave 1.
I only do 14,000 kms a year so I only need to charge once a week if necessary, what should I let the car range drop to before I plug in for a full charge, and this means all my charges will be 100% is this okay?
100% ok.
If you only charge once a week don’t think about. Just plug in and charge back to 100%.
I'm the same, once or sometimes twice (If have a longish trip) a week to 100%. During the longer days it may go to 100% more often with solar. It's one reason I like the LFP..
Thanks folks I really appreciate all your help.
Hi folks,
I emailed Tesla 10 days ago to book a test drive in the new Model 3.
I know that the cars aren't available to test drive at the moment and that it is likely to be in the new year but I didn't get any acknowledgment of my request. Just wondering if this this normal?
Thanks!
There is a LHD Model 3 in Sandyford right now but showroom only, will not be going on the road for test drives. New Model 3 demo will be arriving with first customer orders early in the new year. This is from talking to Tesla on Saturday at a pop up.
With Tesla always best to speak in person
It appears that family members can get into the car or open the boot when I am collecting them and have not turned off the car which is what I want, and other times they say the doors and boot are locked. I am not locking the doors I don't know how, does anyone know what is happening?
Most likely reason is that you have just stopped and are in hold but in driving as opposed to putting car into Park by depressing the right stalk once
Different settings for different profiles.
Are you using your phone key or a card?
If using a card, are you using the same card each time?
Are you putting it into P (which opens the doors etc) and other times just using the hold setting by pressing harder on the brake pedal (which keeps the doors locked).
I only use the one card all the time. I was definitely not putting it into P ever, I didn't know about that so it might explain things, I'll try that.
To turn off the car I press in the button at the end of the gear stalk that's what the dealer told me, is that not correct?.
Hold the button and that engages P.
Doesn’t turn the car off as such. When you open the door it shuts down essentially.
Thats what putting the car into Park means! You call it "turning off the car". The car is never really turned off but for doors to be capable of being opened by passenger, when driver is seated, the car, usually has to be in Park/Turned off if you prefer that terminology. Otherwise at traffic lights etc anyone could open the passenger door etc.
Check your settings in the Lock section as it can be configured to automatically unlock doors when Park is engaged (allowing passenger door to be opened from outside) or if you don't want that to happen a second press of the "gear stalk" will unlock. Try to familiarise yourself with the cars online manual (available from your screen) it is excellent and has great search feature and you will usually find the answers to what you are looking for.
How do you put a new M3 in Park that has not stalk button? Is there a separate control on the display or via one of the steering wheel controls?
