I did qualify it by saying «Churchill during the war». For Churchill’s crimes (and there were many, I’m under no illusions there), the one thing I can say in his credit, is that he did help inspire the British people to continue fighting against seemingly impossible odds. He did an excellent job at selling the concept of keeping the fight going and to not give up on the idea of winning.
This does not excuse any of what he did before of course, but my comparison with Zelenski boils down to being a voice that unified a people to resist. It’s that one act that injected enough hope to keep going, that I wanted to highlight.
There are also parallels with Ukraine and the Lend Lease approach adopted when Britain & Commonwealth were fighting on and before the US had entered the war.
It really is everyman for themselves which I guess is due to the way the Russian army treats it's soldiers. They probably all hate each other and have no inclination to help as a result

Ordinary Russians are generally pretty much OK (considering the society they exist in) They form friendships etc. Pretty much the same as anywhere else. Then they are called up for Military Service (which is mandatory even in peace time) By any standards worldwide, Russian military service is brutal. At one time not so long ago, the number of suicides got so bad that it triggered a massive protest by the mothers of Russia. (until Putin cracked down on them too) So the man / boy that goes into the Russian military system, and what comes out, are two different people. Add to that, they are taught to leave the wounded, especially if they are badly wounded, and that can mean just being unable to walk, but from a non-fatal injury that was survivable. Of course, in the case we are looking at, maybe the one they abandoned was an officer? Now that would explain a lot.

Looks like a controlled leak to me. Bild is a conservative leaning tabloid and will push anything that has the potential to damage Scholz, the SPD, or the Greens. They've also been known to be economical with the truth more than once...

My make on the latest is that in the Donbass on the East Bank of the Deniper River UKR are focused on destroying RU forces ability to defend the area. UKR have tracked down and destroyed artillery near the front including the devastating TOS1 launchers. RU airforce are less likely to provide cover in the area and UKR drone teams can spot and destroy replishment forces. The RU forces on the front line who need new reserves are constantly coming under daily covert assults from UKR Special forces. RU need to get more forces to the Donbass to prevent Ukraine making a 15 km frontal gain before conditions worsen. To prevent this RU need to take reserves from their other pressure zone Avdiivka. Can Russia afford to replenish manpower from Avdiivka?

Great news about the new patriot system. They are getting there but Russia hardly firing missiles lately they are clearly stock piling for a huge winter campaign. I wish they'd receive more.
^^Very large drone attack on Ukraine last night (75 Shaheds fired at Kyiv acc. to article below), so that may be ramping up again for the winter.
Repeat of last year, but this time Russia will have more Shahed drones (perhaps fewer cruise/ballistic missiles), and Ukraine more air defences?
