Let's get this out of way. We have to support Ukrainians because Russia is threatening a European democracy.

No issue here but I think outside of this we should aim for a zero refugee policy.

It's ridiculous that some people are arriving in Ireland having skipped over an entire continent.

We simply do not presently have the room.

Perhaps in future the West will design a modern refugee system that actually reflects modern transport rather than the farce of pretending that a person travelling thousands of miles is a true refugee.

I'm not racist. I have no issue with legal immigration and a reformed refugees system

well you're going to see some hatred towards people smashing the place up yes. i would imagine if they're from the inner city then they're probably living in social housing in the inner city which is a pretty good deal. people from these areas have more opportunities now than ever too when it comes to getting work, and most of them are working.

The main reason nobody wants to do the lower paid jobs is because your better off on the dole getting a few days here and there. Better still if you have a few kids early on probably a house threw in. The welfare and Benefits are far better than a low paid jobs. And alot of immigrants are well aware of this too.

That immigrant came here with a visa, and is working & making his way in life contributing positively to our country. Nobody has a problem with that system.

But Suspect A is probably why people & right they are, are concerned about coming into the country, because we’ve seen the results of this policy play out already in other country’s.

Tbf, irrespective of what the Deliveroo guy did, that part is an issue. No idea what visa or anything he's on, but a lot of those are in the English language scam schools, working cash in hand and paying no tax and then sleeping 5/6 to a room. There's very much a problem with that system.

Half that 13,000 are non-nationals. I see lots of comments over the years referring to Irish homeless making up all of that number, but it's not the case and the breakdowns provided by the authorities show that

I'm a life long Socialist, does that mean I must not criticize what they are doing ? It was obvious long ago this situation was going to be disastrous. I'm an old man & grew up in England at the time the National Front were strong. McEntee & Harris trotting out the old "right wing racist" line just have no idea.

Getting difficult to see how the Government are going to get out of the mess they have caused by incompetence & inept Ministers. They should have had plans, targets etc. when this all started.

God I really dislike this trend of trying to make one side responsible for the idiocy of the other.

Our State does not exist to massage, caress and soothe the wanton paranoia, fear-mongering and melodramatics of the far right. We do not have to sit around perpetually fretting as to "what will the far right make of this?". The fact that the presence of foreigners and racial diversity brings the prejudices and ugly views of the far right into the open does not mean that Brazilians or Nigerinans or other non-white or non-Irish nationals made far right folk into what they are. They were what they are already.

It really is not that insightful to wager that the far right will gain traction in Ireland if Ireland continues to have inward migration. That is not because foreigners come here and simply transform otherwise happy, reasonable and intellectually-rounded people into bitter thuggish xenophobes. These people were not all on course to be contented contributors to healthy political and socioeconomic discourse until immigration policy made them something different. The fact is if they weren't bitter about foreigners they'd be bitter about something else.

She'd want to wise up very, very quickly. Insulting voters like me who have voted for Labour candidates in general elections over past 20 years.

Bacik's more extreme views have been well known to political nerds for many years. For a long time she was notorious for failing to get elected, possibly because she was a bit too radical.

I myself have a few questions I would like answered and that should be being addressed by my government.

Should we be letting the influx of refugees keep rising when our accommodation options are seriously in doubt.

Should refugees be getting the maximum welfare payment when children allowance, rent paid, and transport and alot more is supplied.

Should refugees who are here for shelter be allowed to go home on holiday. If they have family in a safe area perhaps they could of found shelter there.

Should refugees be allowed to leave shelter in another EU country and come to Ireland.

Should large amounts of refugees be placed in very small communities where services are badly over stretched and sometimes non existent.

What will be seen as enough before we become totally swamped and services are totally not working for anyone. Like accommodation at the moment.

How do we know that some of these people are refugees when some show up with no documentation, sorry documentation must be destroyed in flight. And also are they running from oppression or feared of punishment for something

These are just a few of my own questions And there are lots more .But tell me by asking these questions does this make me right wing or a racist.
