Whilst nobody wants to see violence there is real anger out there and this is the outcome when you feel your government is not listening to you.

It's no secret Immigration that is the number one issue in the next election, followed by the cost of living. You could argue they are in some way connected, if our government doesn't want things to get much worse and an eventual far-right government elected they had better start listening.

As for discontent/ rioting on the streets - there are people affected in all sorts of ways by current government policies. Chickens will come home to roost in the most unwelcome ways. It's all very well for the likes of Catherine Day to lecture us on our responsibilities, but those in her circle are little affected. Terrible sad to see how times are changing here.

My husband went into town to a work reunion this evening. Said when I managed to reach him on the phone that O’Connell St is a battleground. Ordinarily he’d have walked up O’Connell St to the hotel they meet in.
