Would a run of draught excluder (self adhesive) on the underside stop the water.
I heard roofers burn off the first few inches of non drip
I'd have to agree with Rock and bog I'd be thinking the sds drill it's much faster as well rather than ordinary drills but how many holes are you talking about
An 8mm socket is a cheap solution also. Granted the impact wrench is heavier that an impact driver but for an occasional user it suffices
Thanks. I'd be only using it to put up a few gate hangers here and there.
Thanks. Santy might bring me one 😀
Would probably do but I would prefer to have the sds. Aslo it's not too dear to add on with bare units once you have batteries etc
Thanks again.
I'm not much of an engineer and getting more confused by the minute looking at different options online here.
Is there a particular model or level of amps/volts you'd recommend? Drilling 12mm into concrete is the heaviest work I'd be doing.
Thanks.
I bought a mole plough a few years ago to bury all of the water pipe. I bought a 2,000 meter roll of pipe and when it came to going through hedges or roadways I wasn't sure what I'd do. I didn't want to cut the pipe every time.
So myself and my father were thinking and came up with this idea. I used an old leaf spring as the guide for the pipe. When I have to cross a roadway, hedge or stream, I remove the pin and open the bolt and take out the pipe saving the need to either cut the pipe or drive all the way to the end of the roll of pipe to get it out of the mole plough.
I got a local fabricator to weld it together. I have buried 500 meters of pipe so far with no issues. I know the bolt will wear over time but so far so good. I have a 3cx here so that makes it easier, I just dig a hole at either side of the crossing and carry on.
That's a super job 👏
Good set of SDS drill bits in Lidl at the minute - e8 for 6 or 8 of them. Local hardware shop was E12 for 1 the other day.
Got a pack of 3 ordinary drill bits-16,18+20mm e10- get me out of a pickle some day!
Hi ya it's getting more confusing every time I buy something online 🙃
For a start Milwaukee are probably slightly ahead of dewalt imo. Now I have some of each brand but for yourself it won't matter for your level of work. Within the brands there's two levels of tools one DIY,ish and trade. That's usually apparent in the price difference and in the dewalt range you'll see xrp on the tool and description which is the higher spec. Go with 18v tools and include two 5amp batteries.
Cheers Handy in a pinch 👍
For an all rounder, drilling holes, driving screws etc, this is a good model and not crazy expensive. Also, smaller battery will be fine assuming your not going to be using it for hours on end.
You could add this on for €60, same batteries will work with both drills. It only screws in screws, tex screws or nuts/bolts. It doesn’t really drill holes. But if you had some sheeting project or were building something out of Plywood, it is a gift.
finally, this is a little specialised, but if you had concrete holes to drill, this is a beast. It will eat through concrete and any decent drill bits will work brilliant with it.
again, batteries from first drill work with it.
Finally, If you want to go all out to hell, get this combo kit which has all the drills, bigger batteries and is probably cheaper overall.
I have a Lidl version of that SDS drill and I couldn't get over how much better it was at drilling than a normal hammer drill.
On the subject, Any opinions on a corded Vs cordless SDS drill?
I've a couple of DeWalt batteries already, so I was thinking of this for occasional hacking on the farm
DEWALT 18V XR Brushless 26mm SDS-Plus Hammer Drill - Bare Unit (No Battery or Charger) https://amzn.eu/d/i1hCrTc
Or some people have said this a good job if you're happy with corded
I have that dewalt SDS (actually won it on a instagram competition for a tool shop). Its a right job, eats through concrete.
The Titan would be just as good I'd say, but if you already have the batteries I'd go Dewalt.
Have a top spec milwaukee cordless sds and bought the titan earlier in the year aswell for drilling 22mm holes in rock for clipex post with the rock spike on them. The titan would eat it alive.
There's actually 4 drill bits in it 16 17 18 20mm for a tenner
Clipex post with a rock spike you say 🤔 👀 ...now that is handy
Milwaukee I think are made in china lately, I've seen at work lately there grinders not lasting , I see a lot of chippies going away from them ,
Ok Interesting 👍
Ya they're handy alright but a nuisance trying to drill such a big hole in solid rock. A lot harder drilling than concrete.
Yer man Dean Doherty who fixes the drills on YouTube says that Milwaukee are DIY spec for trade money. Last video he put up about Milwaukee he was complaining that they were designed to fail and replace and not to send in any more drills to him as he wasn't gonna fix them any more.
Was leaving the house this morning at 5.30. Saw a tractor and slurry tank on the road. Are lads under that much pressure?
Wouldn't see it during the summer with silage!
Yard washings most likely or transferring to another tank.
You're very charitable,...... trying to do it under cover of darkness would be my thoughts
Maybe, but I put in fresh silage every morning about that time before milking. I'm sure others do likewise or might have other jobs that don't fall into the daily routine and want to get them done and out of the way.
Good deal on toolfix.ie for a DeWalt sds if you already have batteries.
Yeah working through the night lighting up the whole field wouldn't draw attention at all...
Great, thanks! What would be the minimum battery Ah you'd recommend for something like this? I may go check the Combi drill and see what ours are
