There should be plenty of depth and competition for places this year. Damien Bourke, Sean O’Brien, Joe O’Connor, Ronan Buckley, Cillian Burke and Dylan Geaney are all players who had no game time last year but can challenge for places in the starting 15 or matchday 26s.
Is Donal Down O’Sullivan still on the panel?
A young fella trying to break into the Kerry set up, of course he’s going to be playing in the McGrath Cup!
Surprised to see D Geaney back playing already.
New Kerry goalkeeper jersey looks nice.
Unfortunately I got to see it close up on Shane Murphy as he limped off injured before the match has even started.
Not really
There are very few contenders for the All Ireland this year.
It's really Dublin or Kerry.
All each have to do is avoid potentially being drawn against the other in a QF and avoid any banana skins like Derry or whoever on the way to the final.
We need to win every game go hard at league and finish at the steps of the hogan stand.
McGrath Cup Wednesday against Tipperary. What new players are people hoping to see?
Largely because the Cork representatives are from the wrong grade - they put forward their "intermediate" champions, but because the county also has a "Senior A Championship", it's that competition that actually corresponds to the second tier elsewhere.
Milltown Castlemaine had none of the energy they had the previous week.
They had a burst at the start of the second half scoring 4 without reply to go 2 up but that fizzled out as quick as it started.
You could see full well that the week break was too short for them.
And while we are at it they are playing in the mid Kerry championship semi final on Sunday.
Interestingly I read that it's the first time since 2013 that the Munster champion will not be from Kerry at intermediate.
I knew Kerry were strong at that grade but I didn't know they dominated it that much in the last 10 years.
Miltown Castlemaine lost probably a victim of the Kerry championship system. No break between there County final and first round if the Munster championship, as well as there best players going full tilt with Mid Kerry. If they had got over that match they would have probably gone all the way in the AI club championship
Didn't Jack fall out with Dromid as a player himself also, might have played with Waterville for a spell if remember rightly.
On the county championship structures, a review committee will examine the four proposed motions and report back by March - so unlikely any change will be implemented before 2025:

A few people from Foilmore told me they weren't over worried about them leaving . Take what you want from that.
Ah to be fair the Glen to Dromid is a bit of a trek and they were going to school out that direction so it made sense for them to play club football with Bally/Foilmore. They would ever have played with Dromid at any age level.
Jack was actually manager of BallyFoilmore when they beat Dromid in the sk final a few years back, Eanna got motm that day as I recall
On the subject of them moving up to Milltown, id suspect there was some form of a fallout there when they left BallyF. Im nearly sure Mark Griffin left around the same time
Everyones different I guess, I never moved away from my club either despite moving away for a spell. Some fellas transfer at the drop of a hat, others would travel from anywhere to play.
more clubs than Tiger Woods...
i lived 200 miles away from my club for nearly 10 yrs and it never even entered my head to transfer... i have to say the whole thing with Jacks sons is odd... they played with michaels/foilmore... fine.. both got teaching jobs in kildare... both transferred to moorefield... ok tis a bit of a spin to portmagee from kildare so fair enough... both are now back in kerry... and both of them are now playing with Milltown/castlemaine... even tho their home club is only 40mins away for training... whole thing is bizarre tbh
It was only Eanna who played with Kildare. He'd be in his mid 30s now i'd say so might not have the legs anymore for a full game.
Strange that he got such little game time considering he was on the Kildare panel for a while. I know he’s had injury problems but he was coming on in the quarter and semi pre county championship so he’s been injury free for a few months.
Also did Jack have a falling out with Dromid because surely he’d have brought his children down to his own club when it’s not too far away?
He was full forward when they won that All-Ireland. I think he may have been Man of the Match. I think he was on the Kerry minor panel at one point.
Cian he came on as a sub near the end.
Thanks i knew one went to Kildare ,wasnt totally sure on the club front.
Jack played for Dromid and owned a pub there. He sold off the pub sometime around when he stopped playing club football and moved to the Glen which is in between Portmagee and Ballinskelligs. Both his kids were young so ended up playing with St Michaels/Foilmore. Im nearly sure Cian won an all Ireland intermediate with St Michaels/Foilmore, Both Eanna and Cian were later working up in Kildare so both moved to and played with Moorefield.
Then they both relocated back home and went back to St Michaels/Foilmore 3 or 4 years ago, relocated once again and now both line out for Milltown.
A lot of travelling and moving so its hard to keep track
I think a second son also plays with Milltown Castlemaine, Shane maybe, I think he was a sub Sunday.
Anyway yeah the reason Eanna O'Connor plays with Milltown Castlemaine is because he's living there now.
To confuse things even more he played inter county for Kildare a few years ago.
I think it's his son singular. His son was abroad and is working near where he plays at present
Because his sons are playing with Miltown. Pretty easy to see why someone might be confused.
He is
Is there a suggestion here that he's not?
I thought Jack O'Connor was from.Dromid Pearses?
Downside is that it makes an already uncompetitive county championship even worse without it being tweaked.
Mid Kerry were closest to East Kerry and without the MC lads now, their goose is cooked.
Unless something changes then EK will sleepwalk to another one next year.
I'm from an EK club and while it's nice to see them win, I'd prefer it to be competitive. What needs to change? I dunno. Hopefully they can come up with something sensible.
Great thing about todays result is the Cliffords will get a break. Also fantastic that we finally have another top class prospect coming through in Cillian Burke.
I'm pretty sure it's not pointless for the players who win them 🙄
