Probably the best colour in that hatch shape corolla in my opinion.. Great to see a real olden days for sale add in the window too 😁👍
Big old bus with very low mileage. Interesting to see what
it goes for.
Merlin Car Auctions
Tax to end of May next year too. Worth a few bob on its own. Looks to be a well looked after car.
Only 3 service stamps in 18 years
2 owners in same family
NCT until July next year and will qualify for classic tax from January
Mileage still under 100k, not a bad MK3 Golf for €2,000 going on it's condition
https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/volkswagen-golf-1994/35592319
Looks like a 1 owner old retired person's car.
No rev counter on the Golf. Ultimate Paddy spec car 😂 Nice find though, car is looking good
Definitely poverty spec alright 🤣
Reminds me of base level Mercedes cars in the 70s and 80s, they didn't have rev counters either. On cars that literally cost as much back then as a brand new semi detached house in the cheaper predominantly privately owned Dublin suburbs like Lucan!
He wouldn't be into them auld com'puters
Very little interest in it so far. He probably has price a bit high. So will knock a few euro off it over the weekend
The add is only active 2 days. Don’t go lowering the price just yet
It's a shame it's so far away from where I am, otherwise I'd be very interested.
Last change of ownership March 2013?
I'd mention that in the advert also, that it has been same owner for over 10 years. Would always interest me quicker when looking through cars for sale. Best of luck with the sale 🤞🏻
There's plenty of motorway access to Athlone just saying...
It's well worth travelling for a genuine E12 corolla if that's what you're after, because there's an awful lot of rough, abused and uncared for ones about.
And young fellas have gone rightly mad for cheap ones the last while as they can spend their weekends doing keybangs up and down the local town without a care in the world.

Doesn't say if it's the 120 or 150 bhp version. Still, 14 months NCT at 2450 is a bargain at current prices. Estate too!!
It's the 150bhp model.
Sold already! Always a good idea if you put a post up here that you describe what is and what the price is. Just a link won't help anyone looking for these answers when the car is sold / ad removed!
.....aaaaaaaand its gone! Only lasted a few hours.
Snap! It was a 2010 facelift 93 estate 1.9 TiD (not the more desirable TTiD!) 140K miles, NCT Jan 2025 €2450
Edit...these have been going for a lot more than 2450 recently. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see it back up again soon with a new price tag.
Saabs have been great bangernomics cars for a long time now. I picked up an excellent condition 2001 9-5 in 2011 for €1350 with long NCT. Sold it 2 years later a bit worse for wear and with the alarm no longer working for €1250. Not a driver's car but a very nice place to be in. Particularly as that was in the middle of the worst of the recession and I could barely even afford to own a bangernomics car as our only family car
I screenshot a photo too (particularly of the C5’s since they are disappearing too) to add to my odd post here for posterity.
It’s eating my iCloud storage tho!
Just screenshot and paste it into here. No need to keep a copy yourself. Boards can pay for the storage :-)
Good tip, thanks. I’ll hold on to the C5 ones though cos I’m odd like that 😂
Yeah that price was very good.
Regarding the engines in these it depends what you want
The TTiD's have higher peak power and really good flat power across the band. however, they do like to throw the turbos, fuel pump & oil pump in their life. They really need their oil pump and seal sorted.
If you want reliability, get the 120hp model - zero issues. Can be mapped to 150hp. will go for life.
If you want reliability, don't get a diesel. Period. 😁
just a tad hint of bullshit right there now :)
Old diesels from say 20 years ago, were generally very reliable. But none of the modern ones are. Sure, they are fine for the first few years. But once they hit well over 10 years old and are at bangernomics values (that's what this thread is all about, right?), many quite common modern diesel problems mean the car is a write off, unless you can fix it yourself. EGR / turbo / DMF / DPF, injectors, etc.
2008 Kia C'eed. Long NCT, cheap tax, 4 new tyres, asking €3k

Love this, would buy it myself if I were in the market. 2002 Punto Sporting (classic insurance), NCT 2025, very low miles and looks unmolested. These are a hoot to drive
Asking €2k

BMW 320i Touring 2007. Lots of practical family wagon, NCT very end of 2024, automatic, asking just under €3k, but he is not going to refuse €2,400 cash, is he?
