Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Lots of begrudgery here (another word Tubs should avoid in London).
I wish him luck and I hope he succeeds. If he does, it will be on his own merits and at no cost to the public purse.
We need more Irish voices in Britain. The past few years have been the worst for Anglo-Irish relations since the H-Block hunger strikes. I don't expect he will ever touch on political issues but a fresh Irish voice could remind Londoners that, even post-Brexit, there are profound human bonds between our two countries.
Exactly, more Irish voices, we should send them Dee Forbes next, when she gets better like
It's a nice thought but honestly I think he is more likely to create more anti-Irish sentiment than heal old wounds! I hope he doesn't succeed and that it turns into another embarrassing failure for him. He has had it on a plate his entire life and he is an odious, money-grubbing, nepotistic buffoon who only ever got opportunities because of his family connections. He makes me sick. Also I want him to fail every day of his life because he has never shown any hint of humility or remorse during the past year. Screw him and his agent and his UK gig. I curse you Ryan Tubridy :)
Having said all that I'm sure he's a good guy.
Seems the Wireless Group (Newscorp / Murdock) stations will broadcast be carrying some his radio shows.
Dublin's Q102 is apparently carrying it live.
Cork's 96FM, Live 95 (Limerick), Q102 and LMFM will all be carrying a weekend show aimed at the audience here.
It's the first time they've ever attempted any significant networked / syndicated content. Not sure that's a great step as it could mean some very bland local radio if they start doing more of it.
My mother in law will be glad he's back on some sort of radio frequency output anyways. She's a big fan.
So it seems Virgin radio is sort of a Today FM “background noise in the chipper” type of station.
Will Tubs persist with the (bullsh1t) book reviews, the stories about a “gorgeous cafe” he found in rural cork, with real China teacups, and of course the importance of BE KIND
The intriguing, delicious, curious stuff...
Or .... Will he go full Smashy and Nicey ???
It's a so called 'hot hits' station - middle of the road in every way - quite unlike RTE Radio 1 in the sense that I don't see there being much scope for chatting about your favourite book for 20 mins.
He comes across a bit uncomfortable or nervous in those clips.
I wonder how much he will get paid, more then rte anyway. Was delighted their rating’s went up after left his radio show. Never a fan, cringey as f. If ever there was a face for radio. What any radio boss see’s in him is beyond me. I hope he puts in a good word about joe Duffy to his new employers.
It very much depends on the listenership I would assume - It's purely commercial and operating in a bigger market, and against a hugely resourced non-commercial competitor, the BBC.
Ah his new misery slot😀
”So just how miserable are you living here in Protestant Engerland? 😆
It would make people here really feel sorry for people in London having to listen his misery vampire act. The Blitz. Brexit. And now Alan Partridge's clone On Virgin Radio's Mid Morning Matters. :)
Regards...jmcc
I think that’s his attempt of acting humble - he’s the new boy in class and he knows it so he’s taking it cautiously - doesn’t want to upset anyone or make an early mistake
I still can’t get his last LLS out of my head- I might need counselling 😃
Post Dramatic Stress Disorder with repeats on RTE Player. Luckily the RTE Player doesn't always work. :)
Mugged by God in a Huddie!!!....like 150K..... and counting
Q102 suits me grand, easy listening background music, when I am at home. I will be turning the dial though, if/ when he is on air. I'm not a fan.
Ah Hilda - I’m sure he was a fan of yours back in the day- have ye no heart 😃
What's the current presenter like?
Can't see many staying tuned coming from the energetic Evans to the inane sombre ramblings of RT
:) :) Love it.

Begrudgery
I hope he doesn't succeed
And that it turns into another embarrassing failure for him.
He has had it on a plate his entire life
He is an odious, money-grubbing, nepotistic buffoon
Who only ever got opportunities because of his family connections.
He makes me sick.
Also,
I want him to fail every day of his life
Because he has never shown any hint
Of humility or remorse during the past year.
Screw him!
And his agent
And his UK gig.
I curse you Ryan Tubridy!
Another reason to hate mother in laws!
Have a feeling he might pull up his sleeves to succeed think it could be 50 50. Either way it will send a message to the high earners in Rte do u want more hours and less dough in another country.
Powerful stuff :)
Hang on...I'm confused. RTÉ have been telling us for years that they HAD to pay Tubridy massive sums of money because he was such a huge star, and if they didn't, then he'd be off to some huge, important broadcaster like the BBC or CNN.
Virgin Radio is an online/DAB-only radio station with a 1.2% share of the UK radio market (as of September 2023). Yes, it has big names in Chris Evans and Graham Norton, but we're not talking a major broadcaster here.
Virgin Radio isn't the BBC or CNN.
Well it’s no North Norfolk Digital.
Not yet. :)
