I'm not a fan at all but I don't agree that it's embarrassing - I'd actually say it's a step up, a significant one at that from RTE. If Virgins promotional material is to be believed, Evans will be handing Tubridy a million listeners - at least three times his RTE one.
I agree that hosting a 3hr show on a fully commercial station with a different focus to R1 is going to require a level of effort and innovation that he hasn't demonstrated before though.
One way or another, this time next year we will know who was right - once stripped of the RTE comfort blanket, does he actually have the chops to make it (as he might say himself)?
So the syndicated show on Q102, would they be paying Virgin for the use of it? Was there some kind of deal that NK struck between the two stations that Virgin got some kind of cut that would’ve made Tubs a bit more attractive as there was something in it for them?
Less time to read all these books he claims he reads.

It's some turn around from last March when Tubs was supposedly exhausted by having to do 5 hours of radio plus LLS that forced him into a resignation of LLS to 8 months later he is suddenly all well and able to do 17 hours of radio from the UK over 6 days

Ah look, he can do what he likes now - doesn’t bother me - I don’t listen to any of those stations but I’d be interested to see does he do a kindof weekend supplement style of radio show with panel like Brendan O’ Connor - if he does that then well firstly how stupidly unoriginal is that but will be interesting to see if he has an “outside Dublin” sort of perspective then as a result considering it’s not totally Dublin aimed - maybe he’ll be talking about cows and sheep’s and stuff like that 😀

I wouldn't listen to him in a fit, but the actual reality is, it's a decent gig, probably prudent to get away from Ireland too for at least a bit.

Allowing them to reduce hours and keep a salary at a higher hourly rate is a disgrace.

Hopefully someone talented will get a good deal and some use from it. Still though, all those "listeners" to his old slot will be happy for him.

They are more creative than RTE ever was. :) For some reason, Irish people in the UK don't seem pleased with the new host of Mid Morning Matters.
There’s a lot of things Irish people living abroad miss from home- I’m not entirely sure that RT would feature on many lists
