... if anything? heading up for a few days later in the week, and wondering about shopping
thanks
Drink
Is it? All kinds?
Stock up on pills. lots and lots of pills.
Painkillers etc and generic brand and stock up on what you can :)
Oh that's a good shout - vitamins and paracetemol and the like. Thanks.
What's cheaper up North these days?
What isn't?
Few shops in Newry do €1 to £1 the last time I was there.
Jack & Jones was one, so that's a little over 10% discount straight away.
As has been said, medication - painkillers and suchlike. Also some toiletries such as deodorant are remarkably cheaper there.
Jack & Jones were the only shop to do it when I was there in August. Also had to be euros in cash :)
Oh yeah toiletries, go to the non name pharmacy type places and the xxxl lynx shower gel is 2.99 or less in the few cases I found :)
Fuel is more expensive
Always have my heating oil drums with me when heading in.
this is all great to know - thank you all
Not much difference if the prices if what I'm hearing are right.
1.56 sterling per litre an average in Northern Ireland which is around 1.80 euros.
Maybe it's wrong but there is not going to be a massive difference either way.
No its not.
Home heating oil, unleaded and diesel are all cheaper in the North.

The problem with buying painkillers in bulk is that a lot of places might limit the amount you can buy.
So if you try to buy a dozen boxes of paracetamol, you may have to go to 3 or 4 ships. Then again, you might get lucky.
Majority of drink and foodstuffs, washing liquid, clothes etc, I still find cheaper in the North.
I think you may be limited to one box per transaction so you would have to spread them out alright.
Amazon - Save £4 when you spend £12+ and try Amazon pickup at a P.O. https://www.amazon.co.uk/b?ie=UTF8&node=22541599031
Yes got Solphadine before, limited to 1 pack per purchase, it's a pain in the hole buying as they ask scripted questions. So for about half an hour of hassle I've enough for a year or more, went to about 7 or 8 pharmacies within walking distance of each other in Newry, there's 2 in Quays, 1 in Buttercrane and then 2 McKeevers in the town along with a Boots and a couple more.
Yellow tayto
If you're buying paracetamol or ibuprofen, shops restrict you to two packs. However Poundland in the Buttercrane sell 3 boxes of either for £1.
I believe Asda and Sainsbury’s have some offers tied to their Nectar/Rewards cards.
if you don’t have the card/app and buy offers, you won’t get the lower price. Might be worthwhile seeing if you’d like to sign up before you go.
Couple of things I stock up on when I go up is tinned potatoes and potato flakes.
What about pharmacy stuff like eye drops/eye gel? I use oceans of this
Boots has alot of brilliant offers in store. Alot of buy one and get the second half price, really great savings on especially things like contact lens solutions etc.
You need a boots card to avail so remember to apply online before shopping.
If going to Newry:
B&M and Home Bargains for paracetamol, antihistamines, mouth wash, tooth paste, cereal, etc
First & Last and McGeoghs in Jonesboro for drink, excellent selection in both shops. Sainsbury's in Newry when they've an offer on.
Heating oil yes, Petrol and Diesel are cheaper in Dundalk than Newry
Are they? There is a big difference up here in favour of NI.
I drive a petrol and its 10c per litre cheaper in Derry than Donegal.
Possibly.But not as strongly flavoured
Lucky lad with that
Sainsbury's own brand.around £2.50 for 10ml drops,also cough mixture cheaper
