I'm pretty sure the LIDL Dundalgan stuff comes from West Cork distillers, so if you've had any of their cask finishes should be a good indicator.
I think I liked the sherry one best from the WC range.
ALDI have the Puca whiskey for €25 which I prefer.
Thanks, have tried Puca's Small Batch and Stout & Rum releases before, just wondering if I should try something different.
Dunnes
What's the best price for Baileys atm please?
14 in Dunnes & Tesco (clubcard). I think that's cheapest currently.
Redbreast 60 euro in obriens, is that as good as it gets?
Redbreast 12 was 55 a couple of times in Tesco in the last year or so, previous best there was 50 at Easter a couple of years ago. 60 is the new 50 in some ways (inflation).
These whiskeys were distilled long before energy costs went through the roof but that'll hardly stop the increases.
Tesco Mahon Point had Roe & Co for €30 Clubcard Price but wasn't applying the discount on checkout. Something to keep an eye on. (the clubcard price was honoured without hassle).
Centra
2/11 - 8/11
I see Heineken discontinuing irelands Edge stout after spending 30 million on marketing the brand.
Obviously if this was not selling in a normal market the price would be cut to move on stock, but because of MUP madness they cannot cut the price below MUP. Will Heineken now have to dump their excess stock or maybe flog real cheap up north
Good enough for them. I didn't like it myself but when the price went over the price of the craft stout, those I know who did like it stopped drinking it
Hopefully more pubs will bring back Beamish, I've seen a few that already have.
Checked the website and it is €41 with no clubcard price, pity as I do like it.
Roe and Coe is €30 in Dunnes currently.
It was €25 in Centra a couple weeks ago.
I never once saw the stuff on sale at MUP in the shops it was always priced more expensive than Guinness
Problem with Beamish is it needs to be pouring to be at its best. If ya don't see a few people in the bar drinking it, it's a gamble. Personal opinion. Same with Murphys
The variation on those 2 depending what pub you're in is unreal. When they're good they're amazing. Guinness has locked down consistency. Even a rubbish temple bar pour tastes grand
yet to see them anywhere yet but theres new 10 packs of Guiness Nitrosurge
I can't understand why they tried to bring out a new brand when they had 2 well established brands, I remember back in the last 90s Murphy's was quite popular with some great ads, they can't give Ireland's Edge away now 😂
Tesco
Some of the other Rye River and Solas are on sale also, albeit not as good value relative to MUP
Dunnes have them. 25euro for 10. Same price per litre as the 6 pack. Which makes the 14e price in Tesco the lowest I have seen. Very happy if someone can correct me!
This is on offer in Aldi right now.
Looks good value

Mostly. But you're still taking a risk with Guinness in a little used function room or similar.
Tesco have them too, spotted them for 20 euro clubcard price today, or effectively €2 per can, which seems reasonably appropriate for this thread, relative to the normal price at least.
Noticed supervalu have the tullamore dew rum cask for €25. This is very drinkable imo.
Supervalu
€39 elsewhere. Not familar with it
had been reduced to 29 recently, so 25 is v good value. have posted about it before, I think it's a really great whiskey.
What's the Puca like - could you compare it to something? I could take a gamble on it but got burned with Slane whiskey before, horrid stuff, two years later its still on the shelf!!
The Puca small batch is very different to Slane, robust, rum cask finish. Although in terms of rum cask finishes I'd go for the Tullamore Dew XO in Supervalu for €25.
If you didn't like Slane avoid the Puca single grain I reckon.
What whiskies are you a fan of?
Ta. Black Bush, Three Swallows and Crested Ten are my usual go-to's
