I didn’t agree 100% - it’s quite a poor reflection on you that you need to lie and put words in other people mouths.

There’s plenty of good reasons - outside of commuting - that could give rise to someone needing a car. You don’t acknowledge any exception - if they’ve a car they’re “awful muppets”.

Labelling people muppets because they don’t align to your own dogmatic worldview is arrogant in the extreme, and attitudes like yours only damage the good work that people advocation for proper active travel solutions in Ireland are trying to do

Since when do you need to account for yourself to own a car anyway.

Someone might just use the car for weekend trips and commute by foot, cycle or public transport.

Maybe others need the car to provide for elderly or disabled family members.

Some may just be car enthusiasts who use a classic car to take part in shows or rallies.

Judging others personal choices is a bad way to advance the cause of environmentalism.

Are we to know what your workplace is like or will you describe it for us? Joking aside, your employer possibly facilitates those who choose to drive by paying for parking spots so might they facilitate those who choose alternative forms of transport?

As for me, I hang any wet clothes out to dry. I'm lucky enough to have somewhere with air conditioning which has them dry in no time. However, I'll clarify that my clothes are usually wet from sweat (as I tend to push myself) rather than rain - as I've said elsewhere, I rarely get rained on during my commutes.

Same thing you'd do if you got caught in the rain walking into the office. Just hang it on coat hook mostly.

Though modern sports gear doesn't really hold much water and doesn't need much drying. Though I rarely got caught in heavy rain when cycling. Used to wait for a gap before heading out the door.

When I cycled more frequently, I realised it rains less and less heavy than I thought when I just drove.

We have a wet room in our current office. I don't think I've ever used it.

On a really bad day I just get the train. The worse the weather the worst the traffic and the less likely I will take the car.

My commute is 15km. When I cycle it takes 50 mins give or take 2 mins. When I run it is up to me how fast I go but I can estimate the time taken to within 2 or 3 mins. On public transport it takes 1 hr and 5 mins barring the odd day when there is an issue. Driving ranges between 35 mins and 2 hours

Driving is always unpredictable due to traffic. Cars and buses. Buses should be better with bus lanes, but they never seem to be consistent in Dublin, ghost buses etc.

Anything like walking, trains, cycling is much more consistent.

The extent to which reflectors wrap around the side is tiny. Seeing as you didn't choose one of the safest colours, why don't you put big hiviz stripes all down the sides, like emergency services do? I'm always encouraging people to use more hiviz and you'd be amazed how hard it is to get people to listen.

You do realise that the biggest criticism of the RSA is their obsession with high-viz

The RSA is one of the last holdout's in terms of adjusting their thinking as regards road safety. In terms of hierarchy of controls, their entire ethos is focused on the bottom 2, process (pleading and urging) and ppe (helmets and high viz).

In the real world cars are not going to be banned anytime soon, and as there are a large number of cars in this country and will be for the foreseeable future, as they are still being sold, I think the distribution of hi vis is a practical approach, but as I said that's in the real world
