Is Ireland becoming a Woke Society? Are people too scared to say anything as it may offend…..
Are we too tolerant and easily lead?
It all just harps back to one simple thing: Humans don't like harmony and peace and everything rosy near as much as aggro and disagreement and hostility.
I use “they” as a singular all the time. It’s most certainly not grammatically incorrect.
no I didn’t.
It hasn't happened yet so hence my complete confidence that the woke agenda is pure hysteria from the hard right .
You entirely misread it and I'm guessing you were gonna get annoyed about the number of transgender people or something.
I rarely use "they" in the singular. It goes against my own thinking when it comes to the English language. It just sounds grammatically incorrect in most instances. I usually say "he/she" or "him/her" and I identify by a person's sex, rather than an individual's opinion on his/her gender. I could argue that people should respect my method of thinking but some people are just not open enough to accept others way of thinking.
I do make the error of using they and them in the singular form every now and then but like everyone in the world, I'm not perfect. We all make mistakes.
You said that two people you know recently transitioned?
I just want to be sure I read it correctly?
Exactly. He didn’t freak out, he didn’t terminate our friendship, her barely even blinked. He knows I accept him and am trying my best.
The same reaction the vast majority of trans people would have
if he’s a he, how else would I misgender them?
Jesus. Is this the petty level you want to take it to.
“they” can be used singular and plural. It has always been this way.
Based on my reading of it, you've got it entirely wrong. One individual, he misgendered them twice by accident, it was no biggy.
So two people you know have transitioned of late ?
do I have that correct?
I am that thick thanks :) lol
Was a joke, your very sensitive..
Actaully how did you misgender them? What were you saying at the time - him / her / ??
He is too young for a phone. I agree. But other parents at school aren’t this sensible.
How do you make that out? I honestly can’t believe you can be this thick
He is a trans man.
He changed gender twice in a week, hard to keep up lol
They’ve recently transitioned and I still haven’t got used to it.
Atm, 25% of 12 year olds have seen porn. It goes up to 50% by thirteen. It's only increasing too. But it's knowing about transgender people that will destroy their innocence...
He’s too young for a phone but I have a pin on my phone too
How does one “ misgender “ someone they know twice in one week?
have you early stage amnesia perhaps?
On the TV. Give him a phone and see what happens.
We have a Pin on YouTube kids and Disney channel on our smart tv , my son is seven and very bright for his age, he hasn’t yet managed to circumvent the PIN number though
I misgendered someone i know twice last week. The rest was him saying “don’t stress about it, thanks for trying.”
The horror
I have a Masters in Electronic engineering and 20+ years experience in technical roles. My sons know more about phones than I do.
You can’t trust parental controls. You either trust your kids completely or don’t give them a phone. Most parents don’t know that though.
I can attest to this. Some of my son’s friends had phones when they were 8. I absolutely don’t trust their parents were sensible about it.
Should it be termed "foetus carrier"? When in the womb, it's a foetus. Following birth, it's a baby. To me, a baby carrier is someone who is holding/carrying a baby, most likely in their arms/hands.
Cause where does it end?
Do you keep up with all the pronouns?
God forbid if you used the wrong pronoun by mistake, you would be in a whole heap of trouble lol
As I said, it's upto the parent.
Can a PIN number not be used?
It only takes one child with a negligent parent or who is cleverer than the rest.
It's relatively easy to bypass blocking filters.
