Getting it back to dublin for a start 😁
Check if it comes with the granny cable, you can charge it from any socket in your house then.
@hoodie6029 - range of these cars is very limited although they can fast charge. For an EV n00b it would be a daunting task to get that from Limerick to say Dublin. Wouldn't bother me though, but I've had EVs as my main family car for 7 years now.
Oh yes, I’ve nothing against EV’s and will get one sooner rather than later. That cheap one just might not be a good one.
Of the 3 posted, the Avensis looks like it will tick alot of your boxes.
Reasonable miles, long NCT and not much goes wrong with them.
The Golf is abit leggy at over 300k kms.
The Alfa is a heart over head decision. No comment from me on that one, that's a personal decision. Lol!!

Same owner since 2019 and a good long NCT on it. A few marks on the front wing especially but could be a genuine enough car. You'd struggle to get anything more reliable. They drive well, handle well and are pretty decent on petrol too.
Bubbly avensis a solid option too but you'd need to be paying sub 2k and watch out for rusty rear subframes NCT testers are assaulting them these days and it's a dear fix if you're paying someone else to sort it.
Thanks for all the advice. So the Leafs are begining to turn my head. Hadn't considered an EV before given the budget but there does appear to be some examples (not appropriate for this thread so considering streaching the budget a little to include fuel and tax savings) with low milage and healthy batteries.
I'm correct in saying that the battery health is displayed and couldn't be tampered with? Is there anything else to loo out for?
Cheers again
For peace of mind, you can hook up and OBD2 reader to the car and run an app called "Leafspy" to check the battery. As you say, off topic here though, but there is a dedicated Nissan Leaf thread in the electric cars forum, ask there for any help

Slightly over... But looks very clean ..
That's lovely @jharr100, nice find. I think asking price slightly over is allowed here as long as it is likely you could actually get the car within budget.
looks lovely
Wow looks very clean
Lovely motor, takes care of any Alfa thinking :)
Wondering why the steering wheel is black though ? They're usually colour matched to the interior ?
Heres another one with a cream interior and black steering wheel, seems normal.

Looks nice. I'm always sceptical of cars of that era with such low mileage.
They are rare. I can never buy a car that the numbers in it (excluding the year)
add up to 13. I'm weird like that!!! :-)
Typically bought brand new by an elderly gentleman. 17 years 97k km is a bit under 6k km per year. Quite possible. Maybe it has some NCT / service history to back it up, but personally I wouldn't really care either way at bangernomics money when the car is superclean and has recently passed a test
Shame that maroon Merc is a manual though.
The first one is cleaner, cheaper and with lower mileage. And auto. Go for that one so 😁
Yeah, I just posted it to show that a black steering wheel with a cream interior is normal practice🙂
Thought that would be sold in a couple of hours.. ad has just been renewed...
Leftfield choice a Peugeot 1007 with the sliding doors. Bit short on NCT and pictures but worth a look at €1,650

New nct 57000km
I really want one of these!
Only 17 with a valid NCT currently. It’s rarer than a Ferrari!
Ad must be up a while if they are saying "new NCT" and it is up in January 2024 (unless they mean 2025). 4 pics in total and 3 of those are identical.
I always did like these when they were new. Has a quirky, left field feeling like the Audi A2 from way back when.
It’s Jan 2024 on the NCT site. It must have been expired and they just did it recently but greater than 90 days before the next test anniversary date. If they’d left it a few weeks they would have gotten to Jan 2025.
If it was nearby to me, I’d definitely take a look at it. Some people just put up terrible ads but have good cars.
Is there a website you can check that on like the one for UK cars?
I just use the statistics section of the NCT website here: https://www.ncts.ie/1156/
You can filter by date and manufacturer/ model. I go on the basis that the amount of cars with a valid NCT is a good indicator of the overall number left. Or at least, don’t have don’t have one tyre in the grave/breakers.
There will always be a few tucked away or going around without a test, of course.
@M3CS is this what you're looking for?

That's the UK site that I was thinking of alright. I was wondering if there's an Irish equivalent.
