You see Hamas don’t see all Israelis as innocent.

Military conscription is mandatory is Israel, everyone is a target in their eyes.

Hamas won’t be finished after all this, Israel know this.

Of course they are different interpretations of all religious texts, a trope would actually be attempting to portray Islam in it's correct form - following all the steps in the IKEA manual if you will - as a hate filled repressive religion. The Qur'an has problematic paragraph's, in the Medinan verses to be specific contrasted with the Meccan verses but if you can show me a religious text that is free from problematic parts I would be amazed.

All of these works of fiction were written in a different world pretty much, some written over the course of decade's, by various contributers and then were edited and rewritten as time went on.

Nobody is forced to retaliate. The responsibility for that lies with Netanyahu and his government.

Hamas are responsible for their actions. Israel are responsible for their actions.

In blaming Hamas for Israels actions all you are doing is the exact same as the poster you are quoting except with a different timeline. He started way back when. You picked two weeks ago.

That's a very strong accusation and isn't justified.

Opposing the idea of a Jewish state based on Zionism is not anti-Semitic. I don't disagree with there being a Jewish state based on race, I object to it on a political and ideological basis. That's not racism as I'm not motivated by hatred or prejudice against Jewish people. Not once have I expressed bigotry or hatred towards Jewish people.

Sounds like a lot of the same posters on here agree with war crimes and the slaughter of innocent civilians right now.

What Israel is doing is like Britain bombing the most populated cities in Ireland after an IRA attack on a British city, you would be ok with that it seems. Absolutely crazy way of thinking.

That's not right Roshane. I am sure you will also agree that Israel paying benefits to Israeli terrorists like Irgun was wrong also . Also you will be condemning any soliders that are found to be complicit in these attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank and wanting to see them charged and dismissed from the IDF . As we know the IDF comes down heavy on transgressors within its own ranks. Oh wait....

Sounds like you are living in the past. But we can't live in the past, time marches forwards. The reason Putin invaded Ukraine is because he is viewing it from the past perspective.

If you choose to live in the past, then the Jews were on the land before, 3,500 years ago. Do you see the problem with living in the past?

If you want to pick a side (and you do not have to, if you saw a wino and a heroin addict fighting on O'Connell St, would you 'pick a side' and jump in or avoid?) then why not pick the side with democracy, LGBT rights and free speech instead of the cult of intolerance and mysogyny that only seems to want to kill its neighbours?

One side wants to live in peace, the other simply does not. Why choose war over peace?

how is israel suppose to deal with people who slaughter hundreds at a concert like the electric picnic .. and kidnap hundreds of innocent people?

give them teddy bears and make them cups of tea ..

we need to get real here hamas have shown themselves to be barbaric terrorists like ISIS .. is the general consensus that rabid dogs need to be put down so they cant cause massive destruction again correct or should israel set hamas free to cause carnage and slaughter again?

or is there some other way

It's not a good week for Biden, it's a great week for Biden.

You have to remember he's a President running for reelection first and foremost. And, in that context, he's had a good week while his rivals have had a terrible week.

    Everything is political.

Aerial view, i never realized how close the green area's where people were resting and kids sleeping was to where it landed. given the size of that blast probably anyone within 100 meters had no chance.

Then you look at the trees with no damage blast or otherwise then realise no that didn't happen either

So the solution is to wipe Palestine out entirely? Cause that's the approach Israel is following and it will just end up radicalizing future generations for decades to come.

Bit harsh to call the Financial Times "pathological liars"! 😃 They do have a slight left-wing bias now but they require two confirmed sources before they publish, are more balanced and informed than most and do really good data and great charts.

Even the BBC, which used to be centre, has a slight left-wing bias now. Guardian Lefty, GB News, Daily Mail/tabloids have a clear right-wing bias, RTE obviously has a significant left-wing bias and the US ones have gone so far to the far-right and -left that they are more akin to entertainment rather than 'news' orgs (see Fox 'News').

As a data scientist, they all look to have skewed data to me. Bias is not just bad for your data. Does any major 'News' org. not have a clear bias these days? Serious question?

Nobody has suggested cups of tea, teddy bears or setting Hamas free.

They are contained with the Gaza Strip. Israel can and should defend its border. We've all seen the reports of people being killed for approaching the border over the years. And yet they let terrorists breach the border in multiple locations?

The IDF is a highly skilled and advanced military force. Defending a 40km border should be a piece of piss.

Then over time take out Hamas members as and when the opportunity arises. The number of attacks on Gaza is hugely disproportionate to the number that are claimed to have resulted in the death of X figure in Hamas.

It is not claiming there is videos but i am not a sicko to post them because they are horrible, so we have to wait for the investigation on the ground to finish and then we will see everything.

Your 2c is a load of rubbish.

First off here are the recorded massacres of the 1948 war.

About 6-800 Arabs and 330-350 Jewish civilians were massacred by opposing sides.

It's hard to define how many were killed in actually fighting the overall numbers of Arabs has an open estimate of 5k+ to 20 K. Up to 4k of these were Syrian, Egyptian and Jordanian arab soldiers.

Anyway back in BC it was the Philistines ( original Palestinians) who invaded first do you not remember David and Goliath.

That's a great read , two words jump out of the entire page and are probably the root cause of everything "British " and "partition "

It's also interesting how it later says most of the Israeli version of history is made up

for the retaliation they have forced the Israelis to inflict on Gaza in reprisal.”

The same type of people asking if the Palestinians had no agency now explaining how Israelis have none.

We could use your circular logic to blame the Israelis for the retaliatory attack the Palestinians were forced to undertake against them on October 7th. And on and on and on.

Nothing circular about the 'retaliation forced...' Did you expect Israel not to retaliate? When it's sworn to defend its people, unlike Hamas who sacrifice their people?

Again I ask my hypothetical: If Israel had waited a week before retaliating, would you have protested Hamas' massacre of Israelis? So far, the answers from the pro-Hamas side has been "No."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,503 ✭✭✭howiya

Retaliation is just another word for revenge.

If they are sworn to defend people, how did they let so many terrorists through the border on October 7th?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,182 ✭✭✭SafeSurfer

Of course retaliation is circular. Look at the example of tit for tat killings in the north if you want a local example or the very conflict we are discussing.

The massacre of any one is wrong. Obviously.

It was the United Nations that partitioned Israel when the British mandate ended and they were withdrawing

The British tried there best to prevent Jewish migration to Israel from 1939 on and especially after WW11 but it failed

On the topic of media, just watching Sky News for a couple of minutes there. Covering the situation and then break to their weather report supported by Qatar Airways, the state owned airline of Qatar. Qatar who provide shelter for the leaders of Hamas...
