I'm just seeing so much pride events, that's all. I thought it was a June thing.
honestly i never looked at pride parades as a protest. They are protesting against anyone's beliefs that don't align with theirs? I understand gay and trans people encounter challenges their entire life, I just dont think these parades or protests help their cause any. They could in fact have the opposite effect the paraders are hoping for. I believe the protests will push more people away than change any minds about gay rights or anything the parade/protest is actually protesting.

Pride is poorly named, imo.
It isn't really a celebration, it's a protest, and a necessary one. Gay and trans people are daily abused and discriminated against. And, honestly, if you don't accept this as true, you are most likely part of the problem.
Library workers and library users are being harassed, abused, attacked and blocked from the libraryu on an ongoing basis by extremist anti lgbt hate campaigners.
It's because of people like you, that's why there are pride events.
It's not just to celebrate sexuality it's to protest and highlight the discrimination, abuse and violence they suffer just for trying to be themselves.
Having said that, it's already been established that there was no pride event as suggested in the OP, it was something else. Please read the thread before commenting.

If we're applying limits to the number of particular events does that also include GAA matches ? I'm sick of having the local roads blocked off because there are matches on.
Does it also include weddings with people blowing horns ?
Does it also include religious processions ?
Does it include funerals ?
Etc. Etc.

A tractor run is about people having a shared, recreational interest in something. Not unlike people following a football team or collecting stamps.
Pride events are about stamping out discrimination, ostracisation, violent abuse, hatred, derision and denial of existence against people who come under the LGBT+ banner.
If you think a tractor run is in any tiny way comparable to a pride event, well that says a lot about you.
There were all sorts of flags there, including Irish flags. Political parties, various activist groups and trade unions all had flags and banners. I struggle to understand why all you saw was pride colours. So, I'm afraid I don't understand why you thought it was a pride event.

You surely have someone LGBTQ in your family, extended family, or friend group. When I see a rainbow-flagged event or protest in progress, an LGBTQ person close to me comes to mind. And then it is something I relate to.
Pretty much a continuation of this. If you looked harder you might have noticed the other group by the monument loudly giving out about trans rights, gay marriage, and sex education.

Well let’s look at it this way; if you saw one tractor run in your area per year you mightn’t think much, but if you saw it happen three or four times you might cringe a bit? Of course you would, if it’s not something you relate to.
