When did CT Electric on Sean Mulvoy Road change to Kellihers Electrical (part of the Rexel Group).
Was it bought out or is it just a name change?
A couple of years ago I think.
Still trading as CT in mayo and sligo. Same company though.
Following on from the Dexcom (1,000+) announcement for Athenry, another business is also going into the ind est in the town. This one looks to be bringing about 120 jobs
It will be based on the link road, about 1k from the Dexcom site.
Hopefully the proposed road joining the link road to the roundabout behind the Pres school will move forward soon. I haven’t heard anything about it lately

New barber shop opening soon in the Liosban estate. It's going into a space upstairs in the Mace shop on the corner (formerly an Elverys Sports shop), to get to it you will need to enter the shop and use the stairs on the premises.
I gather it's the unit between Evergreen and Regata.

Well, being sold as opposed to closing. Can't really close something that never opened.
What a shame.
Meanwhile the site sits empty for the 4th year.
Tell me why I know towns of 1000 people that have as many nightclubs as Galway.
Hopefully the Comer's don't go for them. I'll will be sitting there a lot longer then.
Drinking culture is changing. Demand isn't there anymore.
Because existing legacy pubs are charging €7 a pint, don't cater for students/locals and just want the tourist dollars.
I noticed a massive shift when pubs re-opened after COVID in the culture of the pubs in Galway city myself. The friendly local vibe was lost IMO, and it's why the pubs in Oranmore are thriving now. They retained that local vibe.
I was only in one Wetherspoons in Dublin once. Cheap drinks ( just over half the price of a nearby hotel) and food and the service was efficient and friendly.
Wetherspoons would've thrived in Galway. Huge student population drinking 7 days a week who would've lapped up the cheaper pub experience.
Formerly Costa Coffee on quay street is now a branch of Weavers of Ireland
Whatever about Latin Quarter, that's now becoming a Woolly Jumper Quarter.
Places should do Student nights midweek, but dont know if that happens in Galway.
Cheap, but its still the pub equivalent of going out for a meal and ending up in Mcdonalds :)

Budget option for people on a budget. There's a place for all price brackets, whether it's Michelin star or burger bar.
There's plenty of character free but expensive pubs in Galway. We could've coped with a cheaper option.
Students are being fleeced on rent, they don't have the spare change for pints and shots like they did 20 years ago.
Similar with the non-student Fri/Sat night crowd.
