Feels like the right time to start a new thread for next year's gigs.
John Mayer playing the 3Arena on 29 March 2024.
Slane it is so ha
Godflesh at the academy may 11
For those who were thinking of Liam Gallagher and Smashing Pumpkins, but bemoaning the Mondays, they're playing consecutive nights in the o2 in London
Fri 7th June Liam Gallagher
Sat 8th June Pumpkins/Weezer
Sounds like a nice weekend away 🙂
(Even though I think the o2 is a vastly inferior venue to the 3arena)
Foo fighters would struggle for 80k
Jesus christ if I see one more post like this
Not if they had a good support act.
Half eying up that Pumpkins /weezer show alright, but then might be there 2 weeks earlier for king gizzard too
Rammstein and Liam Gallagher Night 1 the same night
Some load of €€€ for Dublin Hotels that night
Always thankful to be living so close to town that I can just decide to go to a gig on a whim. Must be tough for non Dubs
Yeah I'm blessed I'm a good traveller and can do numerous journeys on a bus/train in quick succession
Far too expensive to stay the night
Pretty sure it's Opium even though on MCD's website it mentions both Opium and The Academy. Last time they played it was in Opium. Good thing about that is that it would mean being able to buy tickets on Whelans website rather than through ticketbastard.
I live on the South Coast but will always drive home after a Dublin gig (and indeed after one in Belfast). A stop off at a service station for a short nap and a coffee and I'm sorted
It seems like everything half-decent being announced recently is a Monday or a Tuesday!
Reckon that Foggy Notions announcement tomorrow will be Mitski actually. She's due to announce European dates this week. They promoted her last Dublin gig here.
Mitski, May 4th, 3Arena.
Fully seated show.
Mitski - 3 arena Saturday 4th May with Richard Dawson as special guest
I wonder would Liam G do a third night in Dublin if the two gigs sell well
That seems very ambitious
Fully seated show so 8,000.
Sold out vicar st, Olympia and ulster hall in Belfast in no time.
it will fly I reckon
Aha, makes more sense.
Someone remarked that the audience at her Vicar Street show was "Half Mojo readers, half hyperactive teens."
The parent/teenager concert experience.
a few teenagers at vicar remarked that it was there first concert
Called it :) Not sure about her claim that the fan presale will have the best seats as that's far from guaranteed for presale tickets especially in the 3Arena but will see sure..
It can sometimes be the case. I got third row centre for Deacon Blue (Olympia) and fourth row centre for Eric Clapton (3Arena) on their respective fan presales.
Fully seated configuration capacity is 9500 not 8000.
It does seem very ambitious though, Dublin badly needs a 3-5k venue something like the Inec in Killarney.
Who ?
I doubt he’ll sell enough to warrant a third night here. Kilmainham didn’t sell out last year
Maybe we'll actually get it if the Vicar St expansion/addition goes ahead 🤞
There is this thing called Google. It's your friend. But, in the meantime, Mitski is a critically acclaimed American musician with seven albums to her name. Her 2018 album, Be the Cowboy, featured in the top ten of many end of year lists, including The Guardian, Pitchfork and The New York Times. The Sunday Times described the follow-up, Laurel Hell, as a masterpiece.
Does anyone think Liam Gallagher will announce a Saturday night gig once he sells the Sunday and Monday gigs, would he fill the place for 3 nights ? I will aim for sunday tickets, but saturday would be even better.
Last time he came here, if i remember he played 2 nights and the second night there was any amount of tickets for sale .
