It wasn't on the 11pm news on Today FM last night. The sports bulletin after the news said the Belgium Sweden game was called off at half time because of events elsewhere in Brussels and they moved onto the next sports story.

If you think about this with your head instead of your heart you would realise that two random murders in Brussels really doesn’t need to dominate the news cycle in Ireland. Maybe if there was a similar sectarian attack in the north but not Brussels ffs.
I think the sensationalist model of news as entertainment has warped people’s expectations so much that they think every violent nut claiming to be a member of ISIS should be plastered all over the news, so that the viewer can sit tumescent on the edge of their couch and salivate at their violent revenge fantasies.
Definite policy to downplay the criminality of the “New Europeans”. And to obscure whether terrorism is the motive behind an attack.
So if a couple of Irish rugby fans had been sacrificed this way Bataclan-style in Paris, we should ignore it?

The only thing these people respond to is firm action and eliminating their access to the ‘goodies’ on offer in Europe.

In fairness it’s received more media coverage than the Sligo murders last year, the Irish media ( in their progressive wisdom) buried that story fairly lively once some key details became apparent
