While its true that Shia and Sunni Muslims have been at each other's throats since the death of Mohammad, and you have a full blown Shia /Sunni war currently in Yemen, the Palestinian's and Saudi's are predominantly Sunni. Iran of course as a Majority Shia country, supports the Yemeni Shias, and Saudi supports the Yemeni Sunni's. But regardless of being either Sunni or Shia, their fellow Muslims do not seem to want to help them by allowing them entry into their respective Country's.

The Iranian support of Palestine would be superficial enough ?
Iranian provides a lot of support for Palestine, so much that despite the ideological Sunni / Shite divide, they will collaborate together against the common enemy, Israel, and by definition the US and the West. Besides which, Iran would very much like to be the dominant power in the region, and that's what they are planning for.
