Grunge week 2023 😎
So the episode thing is about a new standalone podcast with Richie, sounds like it's going to be like the players chair, but not just sports people. It'll have it's own feed and be free. First episode is with Tommy Tiernan on Wednesday.
That rugby pod turned out pretty much how the emailer predicted. Particularly Shane Horgan. Irish rugby players are brilliant at blowing smoke up arses. That’s their major talent.
While I think there is some credit to that, I've seen a few times since the match a criticism along the lines of "the rugby team keep failing because they never receive the same level of criticism in the media that the football team do." I find that very odd - the men's and women's team in soccer have had homecoming parades and all round praise for group stage/last 16 exits from workys cups.
A hard pass.
To be fair it's harder to achieve that in football than rugby. And I say it as a person who loves watching the rugby.
We’re rank outsiders in football WCs. Plucky underdogs that punch above their weight. Failures in RWCs must be viewed through a different prism, particularly this RWC.
Anyone know what the story is with the tickets for the live show? Haven't heard anything on the show myself, but I skipped bits recently.
They said today was the day they would give details.
Ah cool, though today was the day tickets went on sale
I think today is a presale announcement for World Service members. Or at least that is what I inferred from it.
€40 is fairly pricey or are they always that expensive?
Thought so myself. €44 with service charge. €32 last year.
Eoin has another mouth to feed
Pricey alright. Suppose they are covering the cost of a bigger venue? Still better value than €10 a month for OTB.
Yeah I thought it was a little racey in price as I wanted 2 tickets so didn't buy.
I'd love to go so if anyone wants to bring a 53y.o, bald, tipsy, bore as a +1 do PM me.
But putting out nearly €100 was a little too rich for myself this week. Unfortunately.
Pity they don't go outside Dublin for these shows. Dublin is too much of a trek
Also, great tune today on Grunge week, haven't heard Sally in years
The have sponsors for the live shows as well don’t they?
Anyone got a link for the Episode pod?
Ken was totally nonchalant on grunge week until Kerbdog was selected by Branno. Then he is all talk about his first gig & crowd surfing as a teenager
That's usually aer lingus or maldron, so probably just covers flight and accommodation charges for guests...
A quick search says the olympia is 1200 seating capacity and the national stadium is 2000. So won't be too difficult to get tickets.
10/10 by Dorce (plus Thornley) in today’s IT.
and O’Hara’s beer
You reckon they turn down anything that goes beyond flights or accommodation for guests? That seems unlikely
Ken Burley. Radio gold.
How does he keep getting invited in these shows to talk about rugby?!
In fairness to the NZ guys, good on them for having Burly as their "touch stone" for Ireland rugby.
Have you heard the other pundits?
I presume they are all in on it. Sure they are laughing their heads off.
