More to do with WW2 I'd say
serves these Russian barbarians right

Yes it’s actually quite mind bending figuring out the loyalties and how they transpose between the two conflicts. Israel has been lukewarm towards the plight of Ukraine. Palestinians are pro Russian?
Israel has a huge Russian Jew population who are essentially still pro Russia. Nentanyahu depends on these Russian/Jews to keep him in power. Nentanyahu also wants to wipe pro Russian Hamas Palestinians off the face of the earth. Maybe just better off not think about it too much and treat both conflicts in isolation. But then the reality is that they are not in isolation and both Russia and Ukraine clearly have an interest in using the situation to their advantage.
Not sure where you're getting 'most of Russian Jews in Israel are Pro-Russia.' Not the one's I've known, and I've known plenty.
Especially the ones that emigrated before the USSR collapsed. It was an ordeal to get out.
“United States National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said the support provided to Ukraine, currently at war with Russia, is not going to be indefinite. He added US is running out of money for Ukraine unless Congress approves additional funding”
That’s all Putin needs to hear to keep the push on.
Looks like Ukraine managed to get a decent foothold beyond the rail line near Bakhmut. Russians had been using it as a "natural" barrier defense for a while.
Not good news and there were plenty here a few months ago saying this would never happen, US support for Ukraine would be indefinite, even if Trump got back in....
Excellent reporting, horrible story, and if there's any justice the Ukrainians will one day get their hands on these two bast*rd brothers and make them pay
Sorry I meant to put a question mark after that statement. I know nothing really of the attitudes of Russian Jews. Historically I would have thought Jews were more favourable towards Russia than Western Europe due to the fact they were treated less badly in Russia.
Jews were horribly treated in Russia, worse than the disempowered locals, perhaps. You couldn't emigrate readily. Your Russian passport was stamped with the letter J. Once you expressed desire to emigrate, your world would begin to collapse around you. Antisemitism was rife; pogroms were part of Russian Jew's lives.
There are other resources out there.
They really don’t think before speaking.
Gives Putin hope to stay the course.
I think it's best if we stick to what the thread is about.
I understand the desire for Zelenksy to side with Israel. It's a political shrewd move. However, his stance on war crimes is the interesting one. Maybe it just war crime that are committed against Ukrsine he has an issue with an war crimes committed by his allies are fine.
So you left the context of the house speaker hasn't been elected yet which means no government spending has been increased and they are still operating off last years funding for Ukraine
Not that you would intensionally misrepresent what was actually said would you???
What stance on war crimes exactly
Did you miss the point that Palestinians were killing Ukrainians in Ukraine?
War crimes must be punished.
As I wonder If he has softened his stance on that issue. I'm sure it won't be long until we find out.
For you, it's a weird hill to die on
Another ship gone?
No I didn't. But that's what I mean about his stance on war crimes. If committed against people or groups he doesn't like they are then justified. I would hope Aby prospective leader of a nation desperate to join the EU would stand against war crimes in all their forms no matter who carries them out and against who.
Very interesting article. As I said not a subject I’d have any knowledge on really. It’s not a topic that the average Irish person would have come across much I’d say. Interesting that soviet Jews had some trouble assimilating into their new lives and were nostalgic for aspects of soviet culture.
They could do with getting rid of the sillyness of letting them compete as "neutral" as well.
That is a useful option to have in some instances to allow athletes to take part. Don't see a need for it with Russia though.
You want to point out at Ukraine Israel alliance name and documentation?
all I see is an elaborate strawman being built up by you in order to defend a bunch of terrorists
Maybe provide a wee bit more info there lad
On top of the one that struck a Russian mine a couple of days ago?
Haven't heard of any KA-52 downings in quite a while now that I think of it.
Edit: Looks like another one alright
Where did I say Ukraine and Israel had an alliance?
- 15 x tanks (we have enough for everyone: T-90M, T-80V, T-80VM, T-72, T-72B, T-72B3M, T-62M) We were still missing T-55 and we had them all on the list since WWII.
- 30 x APC/IFV (and here we have everything: MT-LB, MT-LBT, BMP-1, BMP-2, BMP-3, BMD-2, BTR and others)
- 14 x artillery and MSLR (all for all of us here too: D-20, D-30, 2S5 Giatsint, Giatsint-B, 2S7 Pion (!!!), Msta-B, Msta-S, Grad MSLR)
- Russian human losses amount to almost 1000.
- The Russian southern attack was a total failure. From the north they advanced in some areas 200 meters or in others 300 meters.
- The losses are even higher higher than at the shameful Vuhledar
I imagine that's in relation to the shut down. Finding will be back to normal once the Republicans stop acting like babies.
Just breaking news at the moment.
Edit:
How many got out only one step ahead of the posse and have no intentions of going back, ever, regardless of whoever is in charge there.
All the ones I knew. Wouldn't even visit, and worked like crazy to get the remaining relatives out.
