Sure as we're sharing. They could always be better. Struggle a bit with transitioning calves to grass tbh.
Is that the ground you bought? Looks lovely stuff for calves
That's my wettest field. I reseeded it this year and you couldn't leave cows into it or they would sink. Calves are at home on the milking block and are handy for cleaning off the lower ground now. Them feckers can eat alot of grass this time of year.
Moving strip wire every two days for the calves on after grass here them are cleaning it out like sheep, as you say can’t get over the speed they’re going through it and want to keep them out as long as possible.
Whats the brown one she looks out of place

That's a red Angus. I kept a handful of beef calves this year that wouldn't have been worth taking to the mart in spring time.
You might struggle a bit with the transition, but in fairness, your calves don't 😄..Flaking bunch
Got my dung heap silage gathered 😅
That grass cant long reseeded as lines are still visible.i dont listen to mucj teagasc advice but early silage and not making silage from reseed in year of planting is advice i take heed of .If u want gd silage next may buy some store lambs and put them on it thicken up the sward and u may make a few quid for urself.Infact you shud have bought lambs earlier for it and u wudnt had to bother making silage.
Thanks but I don’t need to take advice on making money or how do treat hybrid grass not perennial
Don't mind the begrudger. That will probably the best silage you will have this year. Will be very high in protein. Our 4th cut always tests the best, even better than 1st cut taken start of May. The trick is to wilt it and use an innoculant.
Great to wilt it if weather allows but there's not much drying the past couple of weeks and it's not looking great going forward
Late silage is always very high in protein and dmd but cows dont like it.
to fly the Holstein flag, very happy with in calf heifers this year. Will be calving down at 25 months in feb. sires are crocket acres eight, cogent twist, vh brook and kyteman.
Ai man found us a batch of 30 croket acres 8 straws a few months ago, their some cows to last in a herd, a good few here in their 7th plus lactation and still fresh as a daisy and all back in-calf again
great cows. One in her 8th lactation here, 2 milking heifers, 1 in calf heifer and 3 heifer calves. still have around 10 straws left.
Yeah it got as best a wilt as possible I thought. Got ecosyl on it too. Definitely helps
That’s why you use as additive
Eh excuse me? You couldn't be more wrong.
No need to tar me with it either @SayMyName, for a knowledgeable poster who is usually polite you can be very insulting when you want.
And to repeat, daiymann and myself are not the same person. I could ask for your thinking on it but I'll not.
Yeah were not the same poster
Any truth the ass has fallen out of the in calf heifer trade
I'll leave the pair of ye so.
I don't like bullsh1t that's what's wrong with me.
If I got this wrong I apologise to ye both.
If I was a mod I'd be checking ip addresses. But I'm not and I've no mind to be contacting them.
Again apologies to ye both.
I can't speak for daiyman but I know who I am, and its not him. Wasn't looking for an apology really, but I'll accept it and move on. Thanks say👍🏽
Look at done deal, littered with dairystock.
Am interested in a few myself buy now or will the price drop?
With derogation, price of land and labour shortages I'd say dairy heifers will be cheap
Heifers be it top end or bottom or in beteween are way back on last year …you’ll still have to shove the boat out for too quality ones ….1000 to 1400 will buy a lot of them…skys the limit if you want good quality hol heifers calving to sexed semen with records to boot ….if milk markets start to recover trade will pick up
I m hearing 800e
