As per the subject line, Gardaí have made an arrest in this case.

Richard is in his 50s
They must have found some material or persuasive evidence of a murder having taken place.
no body no murder....
so either that or an admission
That isn't so....there have been case/s in Irish law where a murder was deemed to have taken place and a defendant prosecuted, without the physical presence of a body. The Edward Ball case in 1936 was the first such case. (maybe there are others)
Ian Bailey maybe....but don't think he's in his 50s....
If you admit to disposing of the body then there was a body
There are no cases like what I described
It said the gardai are also searching a house at Grattan Street,youghal.. I'm sure that's the house they lived in.
Well, I was commenting on "no body, no murder" --- actually, you can prosecute for murder without seeing a body. As mentioned.
But there must be evidence of some sort, enough to satisfy the DPP; you can't just say "I bet it was HIM!"
There are plenty of men in their 50s around Youghal, come to that.
Grattan Street, Youghal actually
Youghal is right..
Again if you admit there was a body... then there was a body
Delighted to see the idiot in custody over this.
Could anyone keep up the charade long term
Not sure - but he is such a clown it was inevitable.
He can't be that much of an idiot to get this far
all we can do is wait and see
Surprised Richard didn't sell the house in youghal and moved away ...far away,he know he'd be on the suspect list
Is it him arrested?
It's always the husband
Who else would it be
Almost always the husband or family in these cases. Especially in this case where they slightly reclusive people. His story was dodgy was dodgy as fcuk I seem to recall. Went off to Aldi in dungarvan and conveniently left his phone at home
Kind of a conradiciction here, would a "complete idiot" have the savy to leave the phone at home, or even "complete idiot" watch CSI now.
I never viewed him as an idiot anyhow! I’d say quite calculating and manipulative with a bit of a bumbling idiot act/stick going on.
Dig expected to commence tomorrow at the house currently being searched by Gardaí.
Was there not something about him selling the car soon after her disappearance? Also the suitcases thing was just bizarre
I'd be surprised if they found her remains at their house/garden..he'd never be that niave
Youd hardly be able to do it in someone else garden...
He did some home renovations after she went missing though I seem to recall.
The Irish times reported that investigators are equipped with kango hammers, pick axes and other digging tools. So maybe there's a suspicion of a body under a concrete yard or something like that.
Wonder are the animals living or deceased, as in home-job stuffed.
