Egypt has a couple of megaprojects which need workers.

Very similar cultures, right next door. No need for them to go to all the bother and expense of travelling to Europe. Right over there lads.

I know the conflict is complex ad neither side come out of it well, but Israel have full license for obliterating them tonight

When the IDF raid Palestinian settlements murders and gun down random civilians, kidnaps them and parade them around the place on social media as if they won a prize, maybe one can compare the two.

But what you just did was defend a war crime. Yet you think you are probably a moral and ethical person.

Israel is a weird place at the moment with the government going after the supreme Court, netanyahu surviving corruption trialsz Racism problems with the Somaili Jews and now this. You'd have to be mad to move from a western country to there.

They will never be allowed to expel the Palestinians so this this tit for tat will continue for the foreseeable future

No one is defending these actions.

You must not be reading the same posts as me.

There are lots of posts here where the active killing of civilians is not only defended but is done with subconscious glee.

Whatever your opinions on the history before today, the IDF have absolutely no choice but to pursue the militants by any means at their disposal.

When Hamas have Israeli civilians, and IDF soldiers as hostages, all bets are off. Even the most pacifist Israeli could not stand idly by while their citizens are held hostage. Without having too much knowledge of the situation, I can't see much alternative outside a large scale ground invasion, on the pretext of hostage rescue.

Expect Israeli retribution against every single person who was captured on video today, spitting on dead Israelis.

Aside from those who were killed, the people I feel most sorry for are the Palestinian children, who have unfortunately been born into a ghetto, and will suffer even further from this escalation.

    More rockets Hitting Tel Aviv,

Are the Israeli intelligence and defence systems asleep,

Latest sources, 200 Isrealis killed so far today.

    Over 1,000 injured

    Over 60 were kidnapped.

The vast majority of these were civilians, including many women and children.

    terrible turn of events.

expect at least 100 Palestinian dead for every Jew. i fully expect the Israelis to level the Gaza strip.

This must be your first time ever interacting with the Israel and Palestine conflict if you think the IDF have never raided Palestinian settlements and gunned down random civilians.

Yes - hard to see it going any other way - shutting off the power will have people there terrified and probably almost welcoming the IDF in for fear of reprisal.

Thousands of rockets are being launched to overwhelm their defence.

This assault has been well organized and funded

For obliterating how many palestinian women and kids exactly?

I suppose you'll tell me that sophisticated Israeli bombs don't do that....

Over the last few months there have been reports of Palestinian prisoners being subjected to violence in Israeli prisons and i'm wondering if they want to trade these hostages for these prisoners? I happened before when an Israeli soldier was released on return for 1,000 Palestinian prisoners.

No matter what happens it is a huge psychological victory for Hamas. A bit like the Tet offensive in the Vietnam war. Israel may level the Gaza strip but it was a ghetto before, it will be a ghetto afterwards will be interesting to see if the Israelis strike at Iran because of this.

One commentator today was claiming that Hamas has recently received millions in Aid from the Biden admin.

The woke left in US politics have become much more sympathetic to the Palestinians over the years, a fact that many here still seem obvious to.

Always the woke to blame eh. They ruined our cinema now they are ruining the middle east.

I don't think they will stop at leveling Gaza, I think whatever is coming is going to be massive retaliation, and the Biden administration won't be able to stop Israel

Yeah. I was on holidays In Tel Aviv 13 years ago so obviously my opinion needs to be listened to

    Ban billionaires

doesn't this conflict go back to biblical times? 2 sons of Abraham had a falling out. just goes to show you the importance of family.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,312 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

It will make no difference. And they won't literally obliterate Gaza. They won't make the Palestinians get rid of Hamas by killing their sons and daughters. There are limits to what can be achieved by military means ptherwise Israel would have won this war years ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 57,077 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

How was this planned and carried out without the IDF getting a whiff of it? Yet now they are bombing buildings in Gaza where they say Hamas gunmen are occupying? Something just doesn't make sense about all this.

This has the potential to draw in Hezbollah if they perceive Israel as weakened. My question is just how did Israeli intelligence not see this coming. They have successfully infiltrated the Iranian Government at a high level over the years. It would seem they hadn't spies high up in Hamas or if they had they were double agents giving back false information. The heads of Sin Beth(?) and Mossad are going to be called to account over this monumental failure

So Israel cutting off power is the "war crime" from today.

Not the rapes/murder/desecration of corpses this morning of course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,321 ✭✭✭jackboy

Not sure about that. I expect they will be given a free pass for a day or two at most. In the medium term more things may mysteriously blow up in Iran.

It's the one of the biggest intelligence failure in the history of the Israeli military and government if not the biggest failure
