WTF is going on with that ridiculous long corridor/bedroom in the Copper Beech house? I thought it was a stupid camera lens till I saw the floor plan!
Copper Beech house has such large wasteful rooms. For a huge house (6000sq ft) it only has 4 bedrooms. You could keep yourself fit by making your way to bed at night 😂. I would imagine its a very hard house to live in - rooms are just too big. Owners have probably realised that its just too big.
I like the outside though.
I love that Copper Beech house, other than the use of space, especially the bedroom that Mollyb60 mentions, I don't understand that at all. There are two huge 'landings', and an entire wing housing just a wardrobe and bathroom. They built a visually appealing exterior then fitted rooms haphazardly into the available space.
The master bedroom especially seems to be very poorly thought out with the long coridoor entrance, poor head height, wardrobe space poor due to height, awkward shower ( again down to height). The master bedroom would have been better placed at the front of the house and having a nice bay window. The wing at the back is a waste.
I do like the Copper Beach house, especially because of the large rooms. Plenty of opportunity to create snug little spots, to put in good storage etc. You're not going to feel hemmed in.
I think the danger would not be feeling hemmed in so much as lost and exhausted. You could imagine getting into your car in the garage and remembering you had left your watch in the bathroom...so you dash along the lobby, through the kitchen, across the hall, up the stairs, across the lobby, across the next lobby, a...l...o...n...g the corridor, through the bedroom, through the wardrobe into the bathroom, find the watch then back ... you get the picture.
Edit - given the general horsiness of the place wouldn't you think there would be somewhere you could go into the house into a mud room, leave boots, hang up coats etc - there is a kitchen and shower over in the stable area but you still have to get across to the house. I suppose that is where the 4x4 comes in useful.
The owner is a wheel chair user. He recently got to the summit of Croagh Patrick for charity.
A real nice guy.
And there is no lift in the house?
There's one marked on the the plans between the drawing room and the downstairs bedroom.

Anfield Manor, in Co Kerry, went under the hammer with a reserve price of €200,000 at Wilson’s auction house on the Naas Road on Wednesday afternoon.
Proceedings initially looked grim for the State coffers when auctioneer Richard Wilson failed to elicit any interest in the property when he opened bids at a price of €300,000.
He was forced to drop this figure in increments of €20,000 five times before eventually drawing in an online bid of €190,000 — for a property that at one stage was advertised with a price tag of €425,000.
F rom there, a frenetic bidding war ensued, with bids rising in increments of €2,000 from vendors bidding online and over the phone.
The sale stalled at €290,000 but Mr Wilson declined to bring down the hammer — advising would-be buyers that Storm Agnes was likely leading to technical difficulties from a number of interested parties and holding up bids.
The delay saw bidding re-established within a short time and a price of €332,000 was ultimately realised before he pronounced the property sold
Looks like a decent enough neighbourhood in fairness.

The massive patch of tarmac on the neighbouring property makes me think that’s when the farmer stacks his silage bales for the winter.
It means there is 'running water'. Same as they put all the lights on to show there is electric. And photoshop fires to demonstrate that the house is warm. Probably.
A lot of estate agents seem to be getting excited about running tap photographs lately. Lucky for us, we'd never have known you could water from a tap otherwise.
My house is just over half the size of that and has the same number of rooms, except we don't have a "drawing room". We have plenty of space. That house must feel like a shopping mall. Could at least have put in a home cinema, playroom and at least 2 more bedrooms to fill it up a bit
A fantastic site indeed but close enough to half a million for what essentially looks like a DIY house that will be very maintenance heavy. I cannot for one moment believe that it was 'architecturally designed' and I'd certainly be skeptical of the BER rating.
Love it, but absolutely reeks of DIY. God knows what you'd uncover there.
Also has a 2 bed apartment on basement level, which would help with the mortgage if you could get someone to move out there.

That is very beautifully done, I love it. The shaped glasshouse in the garden is wonderful, I can only assume whoever owns the house is very talented, did a lot of the work themselves and also built that glass house.
How do they demonstrate that the toilet and septic tank work? 🤣🤣
Funnily enough I pass by this house every day and it s lovely in the flesh but I think it's over priced for the area. If it were cheaper we would have considered downsizing to it but not at that price. Clonegal is a nice little village but it doesn't even have a proper shop in it. It has been for sale for a good while now and I'd say will take a while to sell yet or else the price will need to come down.
Oh my goodness, that's absolutely gorgeous!! Similar taste to me too - I have the same rug and similar tiles in my kitchen (the resemblance ends there though!!)
What's behind the opaque sliding doors in picture 12? At first glance I thought it was a shower in the kitchen!!! Pantry cupboard maybe?
