Actually, at the time, the source I got it from was very reliable, even more than reliable, shall we say? But here's the official version for you anyway Ted. Quote:-
After the September 11 attacks, the United States Government did request access to account information held by Swiss banks. The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), enacted in 2010, requires foreign financial institutions to report financial accounts held by U.S. taxpayers or foreign entities in which U.S. taxpayers hold a substantial ownership interest1. The effect of FATCA is that one of the biggest benefits of having a Swiss bank account, secrecy, is no longer available to Americans1. The Swiss government has agreed to encourage Swiss banks to reveal the existence and content of accounts held by American individuals and businesses2. Banks that come forward and make required disclosures are offered protection from prosecution by the U.S. Department of Justice2. Unquote,
Note the sentence " The Swiss government has agreed to encourage Swiss Banks to reveal the existence and contents of accounts of American individuals and Businesses'" Now for sure to get the Swiss to break their 300 year old secrecy banking code, took a damn sight more than a Note Verbale, with a polite request to open your accounts to us, Please.
Anyone not criticising such barbaric actions by their own people don't deserve to live anywhere outside Russia. Of course, there are Russian propaganda soaked Westerners who tell people that all the human rights abuses are all made up. Those people need to give their heads more than a big wobble.
The opening footage was indeed Kaliningrad. I've been there and the very centre has a lovely German/polish style. But typical Soviets knocked down the rest of the city centre and built your old school drab Soviet crap.
So no wonder they showed a polish city when they wanted footage of a wider area in the last shot 🙈
I've been watching some frontline battle footage. Ukrainians generally transport their fighters to the frontlines in Bradley's and other armoured vehicles. Drop them off while a few tanks cover before the armour retreats. They're saying the biggest threat to their advances are Russian airstrikes. Whether that's massive glide bombs or more precise missiles.
Here you can see a direct effect of the west being too slow with western fighter jets. A few F16's with air to air capabilities would stop Russian aircraft flying as close to Tokmak launching missiles and bomb's at the front. It would push them back much further making the Russian airstrikes far less damaging.
I dont think that all Russians here can be tarred with that brush. Alexander Baburin was giving free chess lessons to Ukrainian kids.
Huh. I thought they've all been raised with fear of, well, the long arm of the FSB. Unlike in WWII, the Nazi's weren't assassinating hostiles overseas as a matter of common knowledge, I'm sure it happened as did sabotage. But, if there's one thing RuZZia has a reputation of being good at, and actually doing it effectively, it's extra-RuZZia murders.
So, if you're Ivan Soap living in Dublin, raised in fear, would you lash out? Some do for sure. But until major change comes to RuZZia, I doubt your average RuZZian expat will be taking to the streets to shout down the regime or online.
Like one of the lads fund raising for military units in the Donbas currently offering translation services to Ukrainians here , I'd hazard a guess that any and all information recorded is being sent to Russia
That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I'm glad it's not mine.
Ejmatzec, the long arm of Putin's FSB reaches around the world, and punishment for anyone speaking out against the regime is swift. Putin's biggest fear is a concentrated anti-war, anti- Putin mass propaganda attack, so even the slightest hint of it will be stopped. Say you are a Russian living abroad, and publicly attack Putin, then a family member contacts you and asks what the hell are you doing? And tells you that several family members have been arrested, present where abouts unknown. The arrests will be very public affairs, even in the middle of the night, with the whole apartment block woken up, and no one will be left in any doubt about what's going on. So no, Comrade. You keep your head down, if you know what's good for you.
I had not heard about that.
On the other hand here is a sad story of a Russian who made Ireland his home, he worked for the same company as I do, he was a great man who abhorred what is taking place under Putin.
Whats not your opinion exactly
I can't find that quote on google (can you?)
Seems like a paraphrase whilst McCarthy has just been talking about this particular package from what I heard.
If that tweet is inaccurate and the quote is fictitious ,why would that be?
Do you just post everything you see on X ?
I'm sure if the ghouls in the GOP are offered some further gutting of Medicare, food stamps or something punitive of the poor, they'll back off from threatening Ukraine. American politics are a shítshow with one side completely lost to hyper-conservatism.
Now confirmed. It was friendly fire and the pilot didn't survive. Another big blow for Russia. Not been a good week for the Russian air force or navy.
Lost count of the numbers they shot down without help from the Ukrainians
Supposedly this is a major advancement by Ukraine.
According to a drunk Russian soldier who posted his real identity at the same time,
There was rumours yesterday they were heading to verbove in small numbers not so sure it's a major breakthrough as they have been fighting for weeks in the area
They'll need to push out the flanks of that bulge they've created before advancing further or their lines of communication will be under constant attack. HIMARS won't go into a tight pocket like that either.
It's barely 10km across.
Interesting story about the Russian surrendering - Special operation Barynia: Ukraine's Defence Intelligence recruits Russian soldier | Ukrainska Pravda
I say Ukraine/Russia keeping eye on America at moment in regrda the possible shut down. I see Kevin McCarthy putting this plan forward. More i say Ukraine are seeing possible what future if republicans win next year, I say its a worry they really don't need and don't need to have to worry about.
They are saying deliveries to Ukraine shouldn't be effected but one thing that doesn't get mentioned is the US is aswell as military aid they are paying salaries and pensions for the Ukrainian public sector, which in theory could be effected but it will be a case of having to wait and see what and what doesn't get effected, it might be a bitter pill that US service men and women and other government employees won't get paid but they will be paying Ukrainians salaries and pensions

Russian base in Kherson burning
Not protesting
Shipped in by the bus load....like Putin's ( one of them anyway) last appearance in some big stadium last year ...and most left even before he finished, and deposited their Russian flags and Putin posters on the ground as they left the stadium?

Kherson City - eternally Russian (Sep 30th to Nov 11th, 2022).
I don't see these annexation celebrations becoming a long-lasting tradition.
I'll believe these breakthrough rumours when I see evidence. I've been reading "huge news coming tomorrow" tweets for a week now.
