That would certainly explain it, and for the US, 2 billion is cheap protection against future Russian aggression.
You will get far younger than 18 year olds, how about 12, 13, 14 and 15 year olds carrying and using weapons? Even hand grenades? Because they do exist.
Ran out of Runway......
Machetes and Aks are popular in parts of Africa known for Child soldiers,in Syria we saw kids cutting throats of prisoners and worse.
Even if GDP increases (a) this is before netting out depreciation, which in this case includes all those tanks etc that have been destroyed ans (b) the share of that GDP available for civilian consumption must be falling precisely because of the increased miltary producion.
Russsian GDP is about as meaningless as Irelands (but for vastly different reasons 😊 )
Air alerts in Crimea.

You need to copy the address of the tweet. Not the address given when you select to share the tweet.
e.g. clicking share tweet and then selecting to copy the link even using "insert media"
Getting the address from the address bar
Two different addresses. Not sure how much longer the twitter link will work but it does for now.
Funnily enough on the twitter app when you chose to share it copies the twitter link to your clipboard not X. Anyway Novoprokopivka is going to have to be renamed Nomoprokopivka.
One of Russia's main defensive tactics consists of endless counterattacking; compared to Ukraine where they would hold a position until it was turned to dust before falling back. I can't see how the losses on both sides can be any way comparable in scale.
I was just mentioning, in fact, expressing dismay, that a teenager could be so wicked,
@Dubh Geannain "You need to copy the address of the tweet."
This is the arrow I press and then 'Copy Link'. Still don't work. It worked perfectly until they became X. I'm beginning to think the Russians are out to get me.
DM sent.
Thinking 17/18 year old soldiers in WWII sounds shocking is an incredible ignorance in regards to the history of war in Europe at the time and also now. Nevermind other continents.
Some people just don't have a clue.
Russians are making AI propaganda of Cirillo. (She warned about this herself). This seems to be an example.
This does not mean that all Teenagers are natural born killers, ( at least most of them anyway) but for sure, with proper "coaching and Circumstances" the murderous trait can be brought to the fore, and teenagers will kill and main every bit as deadly and vicious as their grown up brethren. Maybe even worse.
Usual glacial pace. Also a thin veneer of technical difficulties with references of adapting the weapon to Sukhoi bombers. Rather than the upcoming F16 deliveries. The latter, if you wanted to be particularly mercenary, would look good in the sales brochure or at a trade stand.
I don't think we will see F16s in any real numbers for another 18 months at least,it makes sense using their existing aircraft that they have managed to adapt to other weapons
That's a reasonable point. Think that an initial use of the F16 to lob extremely long range missile from safer air space in say Western Ukraine was one suggested approach. Considering how inventive they have been with HARM missiles and Storm shadows on their Soviet airframes, think they will work something out.
It seems only German tornados and F18s can carry the Taurus, they are working on a Smaller variant for light fighter such as the FA 50 in Korea .
Currently F16s can't carry Storm shadows either
Of course.
But do 12 year olds actually CHOOSE to pick up arms? Do you think these child soldiers in Africa actually signed up for this? All I'm saying is that 18-19 is a pretty young age to go slaughtering people.
See that the Gripen can seemingly utilise it, that's if they decide to send some. The F18 in an interesting one. There was talk at some stage of ex-Aussie or Canuck models being sent over. Think they were in worse condition than expected.
On the Australian F18s they recently decided to cut the number of F35s they had planned to order and will keep and upgrade the F18s that were getting sold to private US aggressor squadron
Ah that explains, there was a lot of noise for a few weeks and then not much.
Yeah,I was wondering why they didn't end up in the US considering the apparent new owner of the F18s went public about the plan and had photos of him and his apparent new F18s and then nothing, the Australians start theses now programs and then announce major cut backs on military spending despite desperately needing to modernize some areas
I'll give you an example of 12 year olds who willingly choose to take up arms. Once upon a time, I was staying in a small African village, on the banks of a dried up river bed. Typical African beehive thatched huts, no electricity, internet, running water, etc. Each evening as darkness fell, they lit a fire in the center of the village, and everyone sat around it, everyone, men, women and children. And everything that happened that day was discussed openly, and commented on. Then as it got later, and the fire started to die down, people started to drift away to their huts, until only one or two villagers and the Headman were left sitting around. Then a kid I'd put his age at 12 ish. Came out of one of the huts carrying a AK 47. I asked the interpreter what was going on, and he spoke to the chief, who replied " He is on guard duty," So security in other words. And I'm pretty sure that each and every hut in that village had at least one AK47, Possibly some had more than one. Now you will have to make up your own mind what category that kid fell into.
It's amazing all these insights from years ago being reshown again.
Of course the Russians duped and killed Dudayev under the pretence of peace talks with Yeltsin on a satellite phone.
Looks like the Wagner group have lost a few more, oh dear what a pity never mind.
There's various claims that Putin has given commanders until some stage in October to stop the Ukrainian counter offensive. Might be an artificial deadline seeing as the weather would cause an impact on operational tempo anyway.
Why would they need to stop a counter offencive that's failed. lol
I love it.
The much-battered enemy continued his cowardly advance.
