Why for dero people it's only until end Aug for Lower protein and also if feeding silage you're exempt
Leave straight away tell them you want your ingredients in full in percentage the ufl the me and everything thing else and the ask them to get the sample bag of the batch of meal your feeding independently tested .. cos for certain they are taking you for a ride
Agreed mj not the Same kick this year in spite of the weather
I’m looking for something of breeding age. They’re only interested in selling to purebred herds here.
I need something to limit my exposure to the breeders here. They can’t/won’t keep breeding and producing in-calf heifers for €1000…also there’s an exodus out of dairy that’s frightening. In 3yrs, if the exodus keeps going as it is, France will be short of milk.
If you come across a well bred bull of breeding age please let me know.
Most lads don't even ask price, they're hardly going to ask ufl
I used to ask about ingredients in different rations/nuts but most young lads in merchants just give you a blank look.
I don't know of any around this area where there's a knowledgable agent. Vast majority seem to be salesmen/storemen at best.
Any recommendations for a competent farm accountant in the munster region? Currently have an independent accountant doing accounts and when you talk to other farmers locally they’re paying absolutely pittance in tax every year I know that’s going to throw up serious issues if they were every audited but I’m sure there is a middle ground.
thanks
This is true whelan 👍
It's all there on the dockets in store there's a paper trail for everything the percentage of the ingredients is on their computer systems click of a mouse but most of them don't care enough to find it
I have the same problem. My accountant is too safe. She only knows the word pension. I paid a quarter of my wife's new car last year. No way allowed against the farm as 100 percent the jeep is put against the farm. In fairness I use the car for any longer journey. This October is her last chance.
A maximum crude protein content of 15% in concentrate feed for grazing livestock must not be exceeded between April 15th and September 30th 2023. This information must be included in feed concentrate records farmers submit annually.
I trust my supplier to supply good ingredients not like some others I could mention. My suppliers are specialist feed merchants who supply alot of feed to piggeries. The pig boys are going to know straight away if they get a bad load.
My accountant is the same regarding the car
If they paying pittance are they making pittance or plenty capital allowances??
One milking 100 cows another milking 80 both established wouldnt have spent any big money in the last ten years both paying under 5k each year religiously obviously serious fiddling go on there and that wouldn’t be for me but there has to be a middle ground between that and doing everything by the book so to speak.
Ya they are either fidling or massive expenses or maybe paying wages to family members or if there old paying a nice chunk into a private pension or are they in a company
Seen some crops in France in August and even back then they were very impressive, see more suckler farms growing maize and it’s grown after a crop of green for early silage and spread a lot of fym on the land and ploughed down after spreading and so straight away.
All the more reason not to trust them
Crude protein level is irrelevant when silage is buffer fed. its allowed under the rules grass was very low in protein for a lot of this year. My bad on the dates . I was sure it was end of August but my point remains the same higher protein was needed. and never buy a ration or nut wit a high oil levels it will give you a higher ufl but shocking digestive problems with your cows
I'd say she's in bother soooo 😁👍
If you are paying serious tax put your wife in a partnerships then you can put the car in for 2/3's of the cost. Everything goes in here.
We are doing all that, all phone/car etc expenses that can be attributed to farm. Parents in partnership, brother on the books and cap exp cost of little over 20k and paying significant tax most years but nothing like this year. Couldn’t justify company format either. So what do you do?
Why do you say you couldn't justify a company format ...as a matter of interest
Interested as to why too …..accountants are funny when it comes to them and I feel some just aren’t up to speed on ins/outs of it .this will cost clients …..im with very good accountant who is well up to speed on all this ,im in the process of going into company ….hasn’t come as surprise as have been setting things up for it last 2 years …..I am on income averaging but benefits of that nos diminishing …….got second opinion from an independent accountant ….shed light on few small things but backed my own accountants decision
At the moment with the beef enterprise alongside dairy you could possibly consider it but the way things are panning out with dero beef will probably go and cow numbers would probably stay the same. I think you’d need significant income each year to justify a company and with beef side gone that will be a significant dent in income. I think we’d only consider it as an option if you were to buy a nice block of land but don’t see that happening anytime soon around us.
Not so really a company will just give greater comfort against tax bills but will work just as well with static numbers as an increasing herd. A brilliant way to protect farm profits if working outside the farm also . Also why not purchase the block of land through the company 🤔.
That’s what I was trying to say if buying a block of land through a company would be the best way to do it.
If I was to continue to work outside the farm for a long time also it would make sense but don’t see myself working outside the farm in 10 years time.
If you use the car for farm journeys, pay your wife mileage from the farm account at the civil service rates for it's use.
Is your parents car going into the accounts. What I am saying is if your wife is a partner your accountant can hardly object to the car going in.
However over the years I have come to the conclusion it seems some smaller independent accountants do not want the risk of an audit, as if there is an issue with one client revenue will go through all there clients.
Yes the percentage allowable to farm being claimed on mothers car.
That accountant sounds very much like he's making sure your paying tax to cover himself audit wise 🤔
re the Limited company go ahead with it you'll never ever look back especially if you scrounging around trying to get bits of reliefs on stuff with what seems like a very unimaginative accountant. I'm just saying it cos it's what I was at before I made the decision to go into one.....
