Does this look bad this far out?
Obvious to those with a keen interest in weather. Those that don't depend on the millions of €s of taxpayer-funded tech Met Eireann has available to them to give them adequate warning. The I'm alright Jack mentality won't help those that are being severely impacted already, nor those who are in the firing line.
Few nasty looking 'sausages' heading up southeast up east coast. These are where the big gusts will be for the east
It's brightened up here in Rush over the last half an hour or so.. so much so that my solar panels are producing enough to run the house and charge the battery... Visibility has somewhat improved in that I can just about see Lambay Island again. It remains quite blustery but it doesn't seem as intense as it was about an hour or so ago.. gusts are still frequent enough, but again not as intense as there were 1-2 hours ago.
Few nasty sausages posting on this thread😄
Noticed that while tracking the squall line. They seem to be elongating too in the last 3-4 frames
Wind really getting going now in west Dublin
Tree down on the Kilininney road Firhouse just opposite the Gaeil scoil/educate together. Firhouse D24
Wurst case scenario, then? 😉
Just tried to head out to get some wind speed readings with my handheld anemometer. Won't be making that mistake again anytime soon 🌬️🌧️😶
RTE ready for their Storm Eoin Climate Change special in Courtown.
And yes, I've rebranded it to account for who the buck stops with in Met Eireann for leaving it far too late to warn people of what's coming.
North Co Dublin.
11mm of rain, wind about 16 MPH, gusts of about 35.
Baro from 1006 to 999 now.
Dark and horrible, nothing too bad so far.
Mind you the cat has decided to stay in.
93kmh Arklow
I think you may be missing several key verbs in there, for at the moment this makes zero sense.
I guess it might not make much sense after you correct it either.
With the amount of roads flooded and trees down (even before the weather warning actually came into effect), it definitely a lot worse. Like the orange warning was valid from 9. It was bucketing down for a good 2 hours before that and could already see all the standing water.
Ah jes would you give it a rest.
Gentle reminder that screaming at your screen that is was a certain orange warning on Monday is different to being a national weather forecaster who has to give accurate information regularly while upholding a reputation as the authority on the subject.
Warnings have existed since Monday and been adjusted accordingly.
Wall of water now
41mm/hr rain rate
Many gusts in 80's South East
Arklow
Really picking up here in SCD, awful weather with wind and rain
If only you had more warning and could have prepared. /s
Gusting 107km/h at Sherkin and Roches Point at 1400.
After a bit of a lull very windy again in Greystones. Recant gust of 85km/h.
Wind really kicking up in Bray. Big change in the last half an hour
Spot on warnings from Met Eireann.
We've a hour or two to hit peak in the south midlands. A few very strong gusts recorded so far.
Rain rate 98.4mm/hr
Gusting 70s and 80s
Quite nasty in Arklow
122.6mm/hr rain rate
This is horrendous
Drove through that squall line in south Carlow. That was wild! Tree came down, power poles down and roads like a river. Lots of small debris on the backroads. Sun is out now. Other road users thought it would be a good idea to just stop in the middle of the road!
Banging on here about it is not going to change things.
I suggest that you email met eireann with your complaint.
.
Mod Note : Doralives do not post in this thread again.
There is a Met Eireann thread you can post all your objections there .
Rainfall just picked up again massively here in Ballincollig and the gusts seem to be the strongest ones so far. Looks like Agnes isn't quite done here in Cork...
Who's screaming? The narrative is what's important, not the reputation.
is there anywhere you can get a 'live' view/map of the weather?
