Does this look bad this far out?
I know it's not our storm, but not a terrible day on the North Galway / South Mayo coast. Max windspeed recorded of 48km/h and 19.6mm of rain. Broken cloud and a bit of blue sky at the moment and temps of 16.3°C
The heavy rain seems to have stopped a bit now at least here in Cork. Wind is definitely picking up though, but if that's it with the rain, that would be great
The south wall was closed from 830 this morning for 24 hours cos of those overtopping waves.
We have a property on the SE about 5km inland from coast, we made preparations last Sunday before we headed back to Dublin for the storm today, common sense prevailed, we weren't waiting for ME to make calls, it was obvious since last weekend.
Lots of Rain from about 9.15 a.m to 11.30 or so, but then it remained dry and calm for a bit.
Rain really stepped up a notch tho is the last few minutes - wind still not too bad.
Relatively elevated site on Laois/Offaly/Tipp border.
Looks like squall line moving eastwards. It had lost definition on radar but back there now.
Carnage in Aherlow, Co Tipp.
Lots of big trees down and blocking roads. The approach toads to the school are mostly blocked and lots of floods too.
Most of which were deleted, and still no answer to my question as to why? If 'hostility' is the reply then I was simply responding to the hostility of others, and yet their posts remain. I get it, we're not allowed throw shade on anyone in Met Eireann on here, least of all the head guy calling the shots in there, but then 'accountability' is a bad word in Ireland so we've to leave it at that.
58 knot gust Waterford airport (107 km/h)
Waterford airport registered 58 kt / 107.41 km/h
Stopped raining here in Kilkenny, mild, a bit gusty and the sun poking through....
How is this tracking time-wise? Very gusty here in S Wicklow and Met Eireann forecasting strongest winds for the east within a window of 2-5
Also @pureza I'd be interested in your stats up to now for Arklow
My station has a clear run at South Easterlies so those speeds are reaching the station. Yes very rare my station matches the coastal Waterford Airport station
I thought the east coast was supposed to get hammered. Not much happening at the mo 😞
Wind seems to be easing here in Fermoy, a few trees down but no great damage
Horrifying scenes in Greystones. The dog's toy chest has blown open. Their toys will be wet when they get home tomorrow. Keep us in your prayers.
Lol
...and now its sunny again 😂
Brightening up in Waterford now.
Powerful gusts returning cork City South suburbs
Squall line just passed through.
Now lets see what wind the low brings, be hard to top the 107 km/h from the squall line.
Knew it should have been a red weather warning
Highest gust in 1300 reports is 102km/h at Sherkin.
If I hadn't heard about this storm i'd be calling it a miserable day looking out the window.
Has anywhere gotten a bad dose of this?
Raining cloudy and very bright all at the same time in west Dublin.
Looking at the way things are, looks like could be quite windy here 3-4pm and then from about 7pm onwards?
Yeah lots of places without electricity and multiple roads blocked due to fallen trees and floods
Where are you?
Going by the Met Éireann website it seems cork will get another lash of rain between 2 and 3.
Mightn't be too bad then unless it's torrential. If it rained consistently to high tide later, could get pretty bad.
Mainly wind now for the South, at its worst between now and 4pm. Rain in form of showers less of an issue.
Overall sofar, Orange seems spot on
