Does this look bad this far out?
Squall line just hit Ballincollig!
Here comes the squall line rainfall
still wild in north cork, but not as bad. I think the storm arrived a few hours early, as it seemed to start getting bad around 6am, so hopefully it passes over earlier than expected as well.
lots of debris on the roads, and a very large volume of rain after falling
9:45 utc WV
09:45 UTC airmass
Yeah I just see on the hourly forecast that Met Eireann have changed it. Was initially forecast to be heaviest around lunch time, but they've brought it forward now it seems, and more prolonged
Oh my, that's a lot of rain falling now.
Sheets of water battering off the window now
Its bad enough here now near Mallow. It did calm for a while but has got very windy again together with the rain.
very Heavy rain hitting the north side of cork city. Jesus.
Looks like some very heavy falls of rain in the Dublin Metropolitan Area and surrounding areas
Seriously don't know how people are driving in this
It's pretty miserable now in Blanchardstown, Dublin. The rain is quite heavy, but the wind isn't too bad (yet).
yes there is, 27.2mm/hr here currently in Loughlinstown, S Dublin, which is very high for frontal rainfall.
Two of my work colleagues in Cork just messaged to say they have lost power. Sounds pretty bad down there .
Winds are picking up in North Drogheda. It's been raining all morning, but has stopped at the moment
Dunnes on Childers Rd Limerick about 10am
Not surprised to see the flooding.
Firhouse D24 lashing rain very heavy just now but wind not gusting just yet waiting for that to happen later on.
Easing here south of Kinsale. Clearing a little. Was a heavy squall of wind/rain. Grand clean windows now! From MTs update I guess round 2 might be coming.
A few outtages already
(sorry if already posted)
Heavy band of rain moving through Swords area now and winds picking up.
Unfortunately dl harbor weather station appears offline, as usually gives good idea of gusts into coastal Dublin
just got a load more reports logged on it.
Missing that too (along with Fastnet). Dublin Bay Bouy is gusting 38kts atm.
Recent gust of 45kts in Greystones.
Did I miss a change in policy from Met Éireann about how they publish their forecasts?
All the narrative is there about the storm and effects, but not a mention of wind speeds in km/h, not one mention of Beaufort Scale equivalents, not one mention or potential rainfall for the event in mm. Nor any mention of the low pressure in hPa, given the event.
Is this dumbing down deliberate?
Blackrock, Cork City
Very rough now in Cork
Still raining, but blue sky now becoming visible in Ballincollig. Winds breezy but nothing remarkable, certainly not after that squall line moved through...
Air pressure still dropping here, though. Currently reading 991.2 mbar.
11am update Highest gust 106kph. 1 station gusting above 100kph
Might not be in the narrative, but it is published
Thank god high tide here in Cork is later. If it hit now, city be completely flooded
Try the Dublin bay buoy instead.
