Does this look bad this far out?
must depend where you are / quality of build ? can hear the wind clearly in our building - lights flickered a few times but remained on - trees outside are bearing the brunt of it - rain has eased but still steady. Going to do some work now !
My parents look after the kids in the city, so the kids go to school there. No way was I driving in to Cork, from Fermoy area, and them into school, in this.
I'm working from home and they are staying here
Ya, I get that, just think the City here is going to be dangerous later if this continues. From what people were saying yesterday, peak was going to hit around 1 so if the worst is still to come, this could be a rough day.
Like it's a bit of a tough thing as whilst the red, orange, yellow warnings are done on weather metrics, companies and schools only really care if it's red. This is probably a day that people should be at home and schools closed (in Cork anyway)
Just hearing the second flight coming in, quite loud. Best wishes landing.
It's raining here in Kildare...But not wild raining. I assume we will get hit once it works it's way up the country. Got my 11AM walk in before work today, I believe that was a good call!
Funnily enough I was up at about 6AM and it was dead still outside. Mad how it all just switches like that....
no, he's gone around... not having it.
It's useless for the larger western counties.
I'm in North East Cork so a yellow in Skibb means nothing to me.
But doesn't take into account people who live in one county and work/go to school in another. We're in Wicklow with kids in school in Dublin. We've had occasions where in theory the school beside us is shut but my kids have to pass it to go to school because theirs is in Dublin and still open.
In practice, being a grown up who can read stuff, I make the call based on what I know of the areas, my kids and the route they have to take. So today, they have been sent off as usual, but with an instruction to hang out with a friend near school if the train stops running or if I send a message telling them to wait there (we've an exchange student with us at the moment, so I'm probably being a bit more helicopter parent than normal, as I'm responsible for someone else's kid!). Other times - usually when it's snow/ice related, I keep them home knowing that the route to our house may be impassable by the time they get home, even if where the school is, or most of their way home is likely to be fine. The warning systems can't take the place of personal responsibility and a bit of common sense.
first power outages.
Because of some rain, and a windy day ???
Come on like... 😏
People have gotten so het up with these damn colour coded weather warnings ...
They'll need more colours to keep people happy (scared) ..
If people think that their kids shouldnt get wet , keep them in.

Raining heavily here now in Kilkenny
The storm is deeper than some guidance even current ICON 06z is already wrong, K2 buoy has 973 mbs and 35 kt s.e. wind so it has to be at least 970 or lower at centre, ICON 06z already filled to 980 by next hour. Would take GFS as best guidance for now. Low is around 50N 14W on satellite.
The met.ie website having issues, m3 buoy last at last look shows incorrect data not for today.
add bandon and whitechurch to that, it begins!
It's more that the visibility has been quite poor when driving and the roads are flooding already.

So far its just a windy wet day, nothing exceptional yet. Though I understand the worst winds kick off from 10am to 3pm approx for here, coastal south of Kinsale.
Ryanair 901 has just gone around and is circling back for another attempt. Aer Lingus 841 has aborted its landing attempt and seems to be entering a hold.
Sudden onset of very heavy rain last 10 minutes Limerick city suburbs. Sheeting off the roof.
Aer Lingus flight didn't even make it close to the city before turning away....
Plane from Amsterdam looks like it's diverting to Shannon
No going back around
2 Ryanair flights diverting at Kerry airport also.. looks like to Shannon.
He's coming back in for another go at it
Two flights due to land in Kerry look like they're off elsewhere also. Shannon by the looks of it.
Not yet, going into the hold at Cork. Same as the 2 Ryanair planes before they landed.
Aer Lingus having a run at landing in ORK now.
Aircraft often enter holding patterns during bad weather. Unless the aircraft starts climbing, it's generally hanging around. They can make unusual turns due weather.
Is Cork covered by live ATC or any other site? Would be interesting listening
Doesnt seem too bad now here. Starting to even brighten up a bit in the clouds.
Used to be, not anymore.
There is a dedicated flightradar thread in Aviation and Aircraft if anyone is interested.
