I see Poland is looking to buy 150-200 fighter aircraft to compliment their F16s and f35s and KoreanFA/50s they are looking for a larger aircraft capable of carrying more and heavier munitions F15 EX and Typhoon are in the running for the contract, the US don't even have that many F15EX built currently only 3 out of 104 ordered
Is it now fair to say that the Russian military has by now committed pretty much everything it possibly can to this war?
Yeah pretty much bar heavy bombers and a select few weapons, they have thrown everything bar the kitchen sink at it
How are they affording this? The average pole is really struggling financially these days.
Current heading to 4+% of gdp on defence spending, I'd assume that they had a decent economy and spending alot of EU money, other than following their modernisation I wouldn't be that knowledgeable on their economic development and forecast,
For what they have spent already and are intending to spend on all of this new equipment it also costs a lot of money to train, operate and store this HiTech equipment and weapons and vehicles,
If only we could look and see what's possible with a budget increase for the defence forces
Considering what happened in Ukraine, I'd say that they consider it a worthwhile and very necessary investment. And to be honest, I'd have to agree with them.
The kitchen sinks have been heading in the other direction, along with the toilets.
This kinda went unnoticed a Ukrainian Mig29 was lost yesterday after being attacked by Russian drones.on the ground.
Yeah I agree. Been to Poland a lot in recent years and just noticed times are very tough there but it's a worthwhile investment in their future security.
Really any need for 3 links to the same Russian story?
1 is enough.
And even at that I have my doubts.
That comment by Julian Roepcke is idiotic - he always blames the Ukrainians if they take losses. There's a war on, of course there are going to be losses.
Swiss leopard 2 tanks story from last year is still Rumbling on ,
Looks like they are going to rhemimenthal under the condition they cannot be transferred to Ukraine,
The times were far tougher in the past in Poland's pre-EU days. I travelled through it back then. Once they joined the EU, they have come along way though. They flooded into the EU, and from that time, their lives improved to the extent that after Brexit and Covid, many returned home and stayed there.
From Paraded as a Ukrainian hero in WW2 in Canada to extradition for war crimes against poles and Jews during the war fate has a funny way of catching up with people
The Speaker already resigned over this. Poland even has an extradition in the works.
Few more heads will roll for this which is only right.
Definitely it's miles ahead where it was in many ways but the last few years have been tough compared to the new lifestyle's they got used to.
Some cities turning off all lights at night to save power, very few socialising out in pubs restaurants, nightclubs etc. Meet such as beef, fish and chicken out of people's budget's so buying cheap pork instead.
They'll survive it just surprised me how much they're spending on military when the country is struggling but for reasons pointed out it makes sense.
Interesting article here.
Regime Change in Russia Won't Lead to Chaos or Collapse.
"History shows that a change of leader in Russia has almost always been accompanied not by civil strife, but by liberalization."
https://carnegieendowment.org/politika/90622
Absolutely,I'm pretty sure the Israelies will be watching this too, some of the worse offenders of the death camps were Ukrainian unit's known for there visousness towards civilian populations
All this Political Correctness gone mad these days.
You can't even given a literal ex-Nazi Waffen-SS member a standing ovation in your national parliament anymore.
What is the world coming to?
Here we go.
Suppose Putin is right now is denazifying Ukraine right?
If it was the Russians who'd made the same mistake leaving very valuable technology exposed within easy striking range everyone here would be mocking their stupidity.
Just shows they don't have a total monopoly on it.
Pointing out errors might help prevent repeats.
That is, we're assuming, the MIG is not a plywood decoy.
No idea what thats about....
Poland economy is improving, I have a feeling alot of weapon manufacturing will be going to Ukraine/Poland Post war due to arms contracts. Last time I visited, lot of German manufacturing have moves there. Couldn't get over size of farms and hoe new/large ag machinery. Cost of living and inflation tho is prob affecting them
By the looks of it, a couple of posters have an axe to grind with you based on your posting history in this thread and are going to have a dig at every opportunity. Which is very uncivil, but there you go. We could do with a few more posters offering informed, balanced updates with sources and links. Personally I find yourself and @jmreire to be among the better contributors to the thread lately.
He is 98, probably wouldn't survive the flight.
