That’s very positive. Last years market was lovely. It was extremely cold but that possibly added to it. Surprising that the council are actually clued in to the fact it worked. Is it Kerry Co Co or the Tralee Chamber that run it??
Both are involved. I think the times are to be confirmed though. I know someone who ran a stall there, and will be again, and said the Sunday slot till 9pm wasn't well received last year as people felt it went on too late for a Sunday. So they are not sure if it is to be reviewed. I also remember people wanted it to be more regular up until Christmas, rather than just one weekend.
Couldn’t be certain but I don’t think it ran last year on the Sunday I think we checked at the time because we were going to make a second visit but it was only Friday and Saturday. Good to see the Sunday starting earlier might make a nice day out for those with young kids. I wonder is there more planned as per last year the had cabins in town and a show type thing in the square.
Anyone know anything about the new Dooctor service? I see signs up at the building on the corner of Ivy Terrace and Princes Street. Used to be Bluebird Care I think ..
Great to hear that the Christmas Market and associated performances , etc are going ahead again this year . It was a wonderful atmosphere in the town last year . Hopefully it will grow in to a major Festive Market with nice wooden cabins around the town centre . Great for the town , businesses etc.
Wouldn't it be lovely to see the Santa Parades , back again .
I spotted that last night but couldn't see the sign properly as I was driving. I thought it said something like a drop in surgery, maybe like the one in Manor?
Yes, that's what it looked like. I think it said 'urgent care drop in' or something like that. Great news if that's the case. I googled the name and got nothing!
In the Kerryman the last few weeks.

Road closure at Farranfore until 30th September which will affect Tralee to Killarney traffic.
Saw people in Argos last night about 9. Any ideas what's going on?
Perhaps the people from Eurogiant are measuring things up?
I'm wondering if they're looking at a few more vacant Argos units to take over, being as they've decided to move into the one in Castlebar.
Someone mentioned here a while back that a phone shop was going into the Boherbean unit in Boherbee? Doesn't look like anything is happening there. If anything its all been boarded up and an inside door has been put in, but no idea what's going on. Looks like maybe residence now. They could at least clean off the Christmas painting on the windows!! Probably no point now, may as well leave it there! lol
I wonder why the coffee shop there failed so quickly. It's the only one in the immediate vicinity so that should've benefited them. I know people who aren't bus or rail passengers who will go out of their way to go to the station to order coffee from the kiosk there as its very highly regarded. If the product is good, the location isn't as important.
I don't think they had any experience or much in the way of capital to start off with (they took absolutely ages to fit it out!). Not good coffee either and not much experience in making them! Plus no kitchen so they couldn't do much in the way of hot food. I don't see why a coffee shop wouldn't work up that way. There's a new little kiosk up further opposite the Sportsfield bar, in a little horse box and its lovely. And the Ugly Mug is another good spot in Edward st, although their range of snacks/food etc is very limited. they really could do with a more varied range.
Coffee was nasty but the muffins worked well. They didn't have any passing traffic.
Spoke to a Ukrainian couple recently who had 3 shops back home. They wanted to open in tralee and didn't. Said the set up costs, rent, rates etc where too high as it would need to be in the town centre to get any decent business.
I see the ugly mug and he closes about 3pm every day.
The Ugly mug changed their opening hours, they now close at 5pm weekdays. (unless that's changed again?)
They were closed at 3 yesterday.
The owners are away on holiday, so they have only a couple of staff covering & closing early while they are away.
I'll keep an eye out
The wedding store that opened in the old Lifestyle sports unit in Bridge st is the shop that was up in Pembroke Street. Just moved into a bigger premises. Looks nice though. Does debs and formal wear too.
I see HQ shared offices are opening up in the old elverys unit in the mall
Went into manor west this morning with my wife. We went upstairs for a cup of coffee and ended up having to sort out our own table and chairs .
Member of staff seem surprised they weren't set out. Odd reaction given they worked there.
I'm surprised that you didn't have to make your own coffee. 😛
It wasn't far off it😆
and I see the coffee shop downstairs in Manor on the ground floor has gone now too!
I didn't even notice that there was another one after Gloria Jeans took off. 😛
Nice to see a significant residential development (235 houses and apartments) planned for Lisloose off the Fat Mile. Radio Kerry reporting on it today. Ned Oshea builders are behind it. I feel its been years since a private development of any significant scale has been built in the town. Was Oakview Village the last one almost 15 years ago? The population of the town is growing (last year census had it at over 26000) so more homes are needed and not just social housing.
It’s an interesting development. Didn’t part of that land already have planning for a small number of houses? While any building is great, I think it’s likely the house prices will be outside the price range of the majority of people due to the massive costs involved now. Very possible that an investment fund has already been lined up for this before it even starts.
I'm not sure, but wasn't there a large development in the lohercannon area near the canal recently or was that all social housing?
I think I read that prices start at €250k in the new development but presumably that would be for the one bedroom apartments.
The Lohercannon development is social & affordable AFAIK, which means a significant portion have been sold to owner-occupiers.
