It’s usually where the vendor and the agent disagree on what the asking price should be, i.e. the vendor has unrealistic expectations.
Ya makes sense. A crowd near me were selling a "garden centre" that was basically a half acre with a tiny wooden shack for over 200k and it was POA
Love this one, right beside the Vartry reservoir. Few quid needed to refurb it of course.

Gorgeous.
But an eye-wateringly deep money pit, I have the shivers just looking at the pictures!
That's beautiful, I hope whoever buys it does a good job of restoring it and doesn't veer into tacky.
Large house, half of which is recently modernised, half needing redecoration. Large, tranquil, mature garden. Full tennis court. Sauna and a large indoor swimming pool. All for considerably under €1m. Only snag is the location...
Having said that, this is probably the best residential area in proximity to Longford town. But you'll pass one of the worst on your way up the hill from town.
Edit to add: Love the photoshopped exercise equipment in photo 27.
Probably asking about 3m. However around here for a derelict building to qualify for being the basis for building a new house it has to be able to be shown that its last use was as a dwelling. Not a store or a shed or an animal shelter. I don't know if Kerry is the same but you would be hard pressed to prove that was a dwelling. Meanwhile, are you allowed to have a private beach in Ireland? Or is it that it is only yours to the high water mark? Or something.
They look like they're exercising themselves by skipping across the room. 😄
I was very interested to see what this house was like on the inside. My mother grew up near there though in a very different type of house! One year, the little girl who lived there had a Christmas or birthday party & invited some of the children of the reservoir workers of which my mother was one. She was fascinated to see the luxury & to her young eyes, decadence associated with the celebration there. I think there was jelly or some such exotic foodstuff, the first she’d had anyway. That was roughly 85 or so years ago. I’d love her to be able to see the house now. It’s gorgeous though even if i had the money to spare, i don’t think it’d be for me.
You are right, the beach is public property up to the high tide level.
Having difficulty telling which half was refurbished and which half remains to be done. Interior is woefully tasteless all around. And its in Longford town.
I am easily amused but I am entertained by playing 'spot the flowers' in these photoshoots - the vase of hydrangeas travels around and the vase of sweet peas (?) features in two bedrooms.
I used to cycle around the lakes when I lived in Wicklow and always paused to gaze in at this when passing. Something magical about it. I have a vague recollection that it had a connection to the reservoir, perhaps as the reservoir supervisor’s house, but I may be wrong about that.
Was the cringeworthy blurb written by a human, an EA or ChatGPT do you think…………..
The gardens are a true masterpiece of serenity and beauty, a harmonious lawns, vibrant flower beds, and majestic mature trees. Meandering pathways invite leisurely strolls through this enchanting landscape, while hidden nooks and areas provide tranquil spots for contemplation. The uninterrupted countryside vistas that stretch beyond the gardens are nothing short of awe-inspiring, with the Vartry Lakes shimmering like jewels in the distance. The gardens, with their lush greenery and a tapestry of colours that change with the seasons, create an enchanting backdrop for outdoor activities, gatherings, or simply basking in the splendor of nature. This idyllic retreat offers a connection to the natural world that is both profound and rejuvenating, making it a truly remarkable feature of the property.
Two from the Irish Times this week. This one in Trim for €390,000
and this in D4 for €12,750,000. Melfort, 19 Shrewsbury Road, D4, ‘One of the last original homes on Dublin’s finest road.”
you’d get 32 of the former for the price of the latter, with a few quid left over.
Mod:Adding Melfort from the EA site as the IT article is paywalled
That cottage in Trim is absolutely gorgeous. The garden is just beautiful. It seems very reasonably priced. Although I notice the BER is G which is strange when the house is clearly recently renovated. They must have just done a very surface cosmetic job on it. I don’t think I’d like to live in it, but it would make a lovely Air BnB.
Every singe bit of wallpaper in this house needs to go, I have a headache after looking at it
Lordy!!!
What sort of animal life did they keep in the back garden, I wonder?
Gotta love the telly each for the bunk beds in one of the bedrooms!
Horses, boss. Or maybe Dags
Jaysis I completely agree!
I have a feeling the wallpaper is covering up all sorts of other problems🤔
Looks like they're dog breeders. They also really like watching the tv. The one above the double bed is a bit scary, and the one in the sitting room with no chair facing it 😂
Jeepers, there's a lot that needs to be done with that house.
And the way they have wallpapered around the two TVs.
It also features fake 'bay windows' throughout!
The pictures weren't working earlier for me so I Googled the address. It seems I was looking a listing from 2 years ago. They've changed things around a bit since then. Like putting the tv up on the wall above the fireplace and putting the bunkbeds back together.
I hadn't seen the 2 tvs, one above the other
Guiding €550k. 😬
I had to do a double take at the bathroom wallpaper in photo 13, initially looked like coiled up turds
I actually though the same 😂
Apropoo of nothing...
Garage with no house 175k
In fairness, it's even described in the first line of the ad as a site!
Dead on about the AI.
Too curlicued a text for a human to hatch.
