We also got used to drone footages and fires in russia. Its not newsworthy now. I saw 100+ videos of drones dropping grenades, i just skip them now, when a year ago i would have reposting them

The "robot wars" in Ukraine have stopped being extraordinary, the conflict has now settled into a pattern and is moving into the general news background. Unless something unusual happens, like the recent destruction of two Russian warships in Sevastopol, even the pictures and videos we get seem familiar. I'd say we're now in the "long, hard slog" phase of the war, akin to the time of 1942 & 1943 in WW2, where the war is raging in all its brutality but not a lot is changing.
Anna Malyar has been dismissed. Along with all the deputy ministers of defense.
Ukraine is planning to sue Poland, Hungary and Slovakia over their bans on its agricultural products, according to a report by Politico.
About 250 of those posts were shte and lies that got people banned.
In terms of progress. It's very much attritional again until there's a significant breakthrough but there's still only one side inching forward and dealing significant damage behind the front lines. Russia might keep bombing civilians because it's seem to be all they can do. They might also have another go at the energy infrastructure of Ukraine again in the winter.
I was looking at this yesterday. The Ukr folks will need to spend time consolidating their gains and expanding that breach. AS it stands, if they keep pushing forward they are opening themselves up to encirclement
Ukr are moving in the right direction, is that a hugh disappointment ? no its not. It's a pity they didn't have a hugh surge in some area but steady progress coupled with continued support is good news. But what is a great achievement is the destruction of Russia's "powerful" army and equipment, its economy is in free fall and that country could break apart and hopefully will in the coming years. That is the true legacy of this war, the final implosion of a once powerful nation. Ukr will win and with time it will rebuild itself, the only hugh disappointment is all the lost lives.
A forward moving "stalled" counteroffensive over a year into a 3 day war 🤣
This might explain some of it The Ukrainian Armed Forces explained why there are no military clashes in the Liman-Kupyansk direction now – News (newsonlineread.com)
Chief of Staff Mark Milley who understands more on the ground than probably anyone bar Zaluzhnyi doesn't think the counter offensive has "stalled" or "failed". A man who has constantly tempered expectations.
But no a few internet sourdrops think its failed. Must be failed so.... 😥
Disturbing but not surprising-
Pedro on X: "⚠️ Important: Russian plan for the final destruction of Ukraine 🧵 A few weeks ago, leading Russian scientists published an extensive strategy paper on foreign and domestic policy strategy for the Russian government, which was now leaked by a Russian news site. 1/20 https://t.co/ZPtjwkKRTQ" / X (twitter.com)
Finally have our hands on some photos from the ground which all but confirms the the 'Rostov-na-Donu' submarine is a complete write off
They need them hills also. They've got some but not quite the highest ground in the area
Not on twitter/x, what's the just of it?
From a passing peruse reads like something that the upper echelons of the third reich would've concocted back in the early 1940's. Very alarming stuff even down to describing the breadbasket of Europe as a "relatively backward agricultural region". Definitely a throwback to Stalinism and a notion of an expansionist Russian mother state trumping all, oblivious of the cost in terms of human suffering. I'm reading Grossman's Life and Fate at the moment and some of the concepts could be lifted straight from there, right down to the academics falling over each other to appease the demands of the the state and the all powerful dictator.
Looks like they're playing the "Sure, how would we know?" line at the moment, which is interesting.
On 20 pages, the recommendations are:
- Provide nuclear weapons to third states
- Permanently destroy all of Ukraine’s infrastructure (incl. transportation/energy) and transform it to an empty agrarian buffer zone
- Deport at least 1-2 million Ukrainians to Siberia
An earlier paper from the same author mentions nuking Poland as well as the chances of NATO retaliating are low.
The best way to navigate this thread is just skip everything until you see a twitter or other link.
Somewhat like a 21st century Morgenthau plan.
Interesting. Looks like the initial hit was forward in the torpedo room. However, that second hole amidships, just aft of the sail, looks like it was blown from the inside, rather than being another impact. Could the hit forward have caused her batteries to cook off? Either way, that thing is a complete loss.
I'm not referring to that. More so that the pruning of posters has stunted the thread.
The counter offensive is what it is. Early days, we understood that the Russian defences would be very problematic and that Ukrainian forces are not ideally equipped in terms of air support. That there will be a long haul. I don't think we have any right to be disappointed.
Not sure if posted but a big week for Ukraine with confirmation this sub is fucked https://twitter.com/bayraktar_1love/status/1703727556757688788?t=Seacb6YP_mYVQk4opaU-XA&s=19
You have a point.
A prominent Eastern European spoke recently about the lack of air superiority over Ukraine, saying it was significantly slowing the counter offensive, that weapons deliveries to Ukraine were becoming slower and more complicated rather than faster and in tune with combat needs.
That the offensive was delayed due to Western powers delaying and putting off deliveries.
He is a native Russian speaker so some might feel he is suspect for that reason and for not saying everything is going fabulous but his job as President of Ukraine must surely carry some weight in the argument.
It won't though.
Not to mention the fantasists and wishful thinkers who attacked anyone more interested in facts than Hollywood narrative and labelled people Russia bots if they trust BBC or guardian over some random dude on twitter.
The thread is better without both extremes, there's far less personal bickering on here now.
Except he said "delayed" and "slowed" which is the main reason someone who said what Zelinsky did would be believed.
What people won't believe and will call out is the "stalled" bollix which is a very different thing.
More like Generalplan Ost based on the Russian attitude towards Ukraine at the moment.

Is Polyfilla sanctioned?
Stalinism is alive and well in Russia.
Link seems to be ok...
