Happened to be be in Galway that weekend, and saw the legendary Phil in the Roisin Dubh. Absolutely brilliant DJ set from a pure legend, however I couldn't get over how small the crowd was. Either Galway does not like it's dance music, or his gigs in Galway & Dublin were very poorly advertised.

9pm is always the standard for 99.9% of concerts.

.. seen them on pretty much every tour but couldn't warm to F2POF, too expensive to stay in Dublin plus a "school night".
Quite enjoying Laugh Track though.
Setlist tonight wouldn't really have won me over either.
Not to give you fomo but thought it was a great gig, best National gig I've been to for a while

Tried (unsuccessfully) to flog my tickets
Couldn't get anyone to go with me, the other half couldn't go
So went on my own and it was really a great gig, I am not a hard core fan but really enjoyed - thought his voice took a few songs to warm up but maybe that was just me or the initial sound in the place
Up there with one of the best gigs I've ever seen! The sound was immense!
Thought it was an excellent concert. Loud. Was standing near the front. Had to wear earplugs at times.
I didn't know they actually released a new album, 2 in 2023, a couple of days ago.
The song Hornets of the new new album is great. England, Pink Rabbits, Once Upon A Poolside, The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness, Tropic Morning News, Eucalyptus, Fake Empire, I Need My Girl ... all excellent live ...
28 songs last night ... was good value.
But, I feel they have a lot of great songs they don't play (most of Boxer) and play a lot of similar songs, which can become a drag.
Still, one of the better bands around.
It really was. Last time I saw The National was in the RDS. Those big outdoor gigs don't suit their music or setting. Last night was perfect. Sound was brilliant. Crowd were really into it. And the band looked like they were really enjoying it. They have some setlist now in fairness. It's like classic after classic, with no lull.
I really like the 2 new albums. There were a couple of lukewarm comments towards Frankenstein on this thread. But I think there are songs in it that rank right up there with their best - Poolside, Grease in your hair, Aliens etc. And I love the song Weird Goodbyes

Was at The National too and thought it was great.
The sound at the 3Arena has been brilliant the last few times I've been there. They must have done something to improve it over recent years
Some people think its a terrible venue and the sound is crap, Malahide is a better venue someone was saying this week. lol
Alot can depend on the sound engineer, a good one can make a huge difference getting the balance right ensuring that the bass isnt overpowering.
Its a great venue, we are lucky to have it, best venue in the British Isles in my opinion along with the Hydro in Glasgow.
I thought drums were too loud / relative to vocals during Soccer Mommy but generally 3 Arena sound has come on leaps and bounds...
The drums were setup very close to singer though.
Agree on The Hydro. That and the Birmingham Symphony Hall are both great venues.
