My own view is robots are about yeild/cow management not about labour
The only thing that makes a cow go a robot is hunger abc grazing is recommend to keep cows moving ive see yards full of cows and they only being milked one or two at a time cows standing in yards mean reduced yiield.Scc is another problem due abnormal milking routine Do you know any robot farmer to win a milk quality award
My names not john why do u say im a joke
Labour and specifically cow and grassland management unless housing full time need to be a step above conventional
100% coming from a 40 + year old parlour. It’s not been cheap but worth it for an easier life. Made it plenty big enough. 4 Calving bays, straw storage, good size indoor crush. Even simple things like having toilet in the yard. Plenty of roller doors for easy access. Placed it in line with our cubicles. Been a game changer.
put 2 70ft x 16ft tanks in collecting yard. One for soiled water. Other can be used as extra storage from cubicles when required. Have H irons in place so will be straight forward to cover collecting yard at any point.
Sounds good.
Any chance you’d throw up a few pictures?
The IHFA open day looks like it was a good day. 715kg solids from the reary herd.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😏😏😏😏😏😏🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😁😁😁😁😆😆😆😆😆🙄
I used to think that but some of the lads running robot's just fine on minimal improvement grazing wise
Sounds like a great and well thought out job to be fair 👍 👏
Leave the man alone will you
Looks like I hit a nerve with robots. You're most likely a robot salesman or something. I gave my opinion on robots based on my experience. You ridiculed me and called me gullible although I was actually being cynical. You are the one that believes they work great and I don't have a problem with you holding that opinion.
They were 2 different brands of robots and I won't be telling you anymore about them because you're obviously superior in your knowledge.
I'll leave it at that.
What brand are the robots ted 🤔
MOD:
green daries, you're going to be fined for overuse of emojis if you don't start putting in a pertinent comment with them.
Otherwise, it's just slagging!
Have u any example of a robot farmer winning a milk quality award or even been nominated.
I believe hes not able to argue his point so uses emojis
Any examples of any farmer winnign or being nomiated for milk quality award with robot no emoji please ur making urself look silly
You thats an expert in robots any examples the low scc milk they produce there long enough around now for someone to win or be nominated for awards
You're no angel! I'd be keeping my head down and my posts on point, if I were you!
That cant be true as most robot farmers are new entrants or tillage/ beef converts. Not exactly top of their game candidates.
Ive been around alot of robots there meant to used in an indoor system where they excel. They do work grazing but yields are lower.
Fair point chief I'll add a comment
Ive milked in most makes of parlour and GEA my least favourite. Not overly complex but not user friendly. Very low vacuum. Support from head office leaves a lot to be desired also.
I was at a milk quality awards night last year in Kilashee house. The Glanbia tables were top heavy with new entrants. I realise heifers and new parlours etc all help but a good stockman is a good stockman.
Milk quality awards are a load of my left one to be honest in my opinion. No bonus with tirlan for low scc milk so once your monthly average is not attracting fines and not spiking or causing problems ignore that sh1te.
Id agree but ud imagine if robot herd had super scc tbc milk solids they wud be winning awards and the robot sellers useing them for promo
No you've hit no nerve yet lol.....you'll know when you do. I'm no salesman nor will I be . I'm also no cheerleader for all robots which is why I recommended the lily to fox. I know that there's some of the other brands working well but that's down to the farmers mostly as the after service is poor. I'm told lily has the best after sales, instalation, and training process out of them all as far as I can see anyway. The robot I'd as good as the farmers are ...and as good as the farmers are trained 😉
There's no way in hell anyone would have two different robots fitted .....if the cows won't work in the robot there's a problem with something but it's definitely not the poor robot.
I've 140 split calving herd myself in 16 unit parlour so that's the way I'll be for another while yet before I will change anything.
Here laaad quit with the pms trying to make yourself into a hero and everyone's best bud ..... its not your first rodeo...John
Funnily enough a lot of them take to them really well
Can u answer the question on the robots theres no shame if u cant answer
