At that time, there was a planning issue, relating the Oil storage tanks that previously occupied what is now Boham Quay. New regulations came in here, after the Buncefield fire.
I can still smell the wet dogs
Ah, it’s only Taffee’s that was mentioned……
Nope, the post I was responding to says
Galway is choking itself, walk through the city and lots of places boarded up and
I would guess, being closed was what they meant because you know everything that is going on in town
Does your pedanticism make you feel like a better person?
You think the difference between closed and boarded up is pedantic? You've obviously never lived in a place with lots of boarded up buildings.
I was recently in a town in the UK with about every 3rd shop closed, and some of those boarded up. Night and day difference with Galway city.
I could tell you what he probably meant but I'd be wasting my time on you
MOD NOTE - WARNING Knock it all off, no place for being a dick, pedantic or not, here
Infractions for anything similar after this post.. Also remember a long standing rule of tackling the post and not the poster

MOD Edit - you are of course entitled to that opinion I just can't allow it here..
The pizza counter in Tesco Knocknacarra has disappeared.
No visible mention in store and a row of soft drinks is plied in front of the bare space now.
They've taken over the pizza counter in Dunnes. Sign was up at the weekend.
Which Dunnes, knocknacarra ?
Yes, seen it at the weekend.
Ah.... the pizza counter in Dunnes was great I thought. It seemed closed half the time but was very reasonable and nice. Is the new one nice?
Wasn't open. I thought they were replacing the pizza counter with Whelan's butcher but pizzalist branding was up and a sign. I'd imagine it'll be the same as tesco.
Weird, was there on Saturday and did not notice it ;)
Won't let me post a link for some reason but they have it on their Facebook page. Opened yesterday.
Whoever runs Pizzalist must be a great negotiator to have talked their way into 3 supermarket chains.
I heard he's a great backstabber. Ask the magnetti brothers
Giftwork shop in the ground floor of Eyre Sq. centre clearing out today. Letter to customer on the window "With a heavy heart.....". Another one gone.
anyone have any idea what's going in where The Half Barrel Bar was in Doughiska? got a glimpse of it passing on bus yesterday evening but couldn't get a right look at it, large red sign above door with white kinda neon lights .
Half-barrell is still there though I'm not sure how much it opens.
Asian foodshop has gone in next door.
There has been some social media activity for a new bar opening soon too - Mary Mullen's Bar. Not sure where it will be located though.
I think that's Paddy's.
Correct ✅
I wonder are they trying to do a full 180° on it?
The rumor at one stage was that it would be a trendy gin bar. They were making great progress then it slowed right down.
It's the lads from Carroll's and Hole in the Wall, I'm told, so it should be a good job.
Has a branch of Smokin Bones opened on the Tuam Road? Coming up on Google but Galway isn't mentioned on their website.
