I suppose you could tow one or two of the large floating drydocks to Novorossiysk and boost the maintenance capacity there. There'll still be a shortage of shore-based facilities in case you need to repair or replace a propeller or a prop shaft, but it's something. The question is whether Russia will want to risk that, given that a floating dry dock is about as maneuverable as a skyscraper, and it only takes a few snapped tow lines to lose it in bad weather. So yeah, barring that, or sending ships on a multi-week journey through the inland waterways to Saint Petersburg, Russia is in a bit of a pickle. And it's not like the Saint Petersburg docks have much in the way of space capacity, given the existence of the Baltic Fleet.
Their nerves are on edge for some reason.
A bit more light on Musk's inaction
Bahjat Chaaraoui on X: "🥊Musk vs Zelenskyy! Why did Starlink go dark? Crimea belongs to Russia, and we've placed sanctions on Russia without a presidential directive. “US President” I can't just switch it back on❗️🤔 #Ukraine #Russia https://t.co/gT7TiDshHy" / X (twitter.com)
Praying this is true.
Ukraine took back the oil rig off their coast, disabled the Russian radar on it and a day later strike Sevastopol which leads to the complete destruction of a naval ship and a kilo class submarine. If this sub fires cruise missiles a Ukraine it's a huge win. Also the very advanced S400 missile defense system they took out a few weeks ago probably helped.
Putin will be even more desperate for North Korean help now which won't come cheap.
What bridge ? You think the ukrainians are going to leave the kerch bridge up ?
So how long before Daly and Wallace condemn North Korea for escalating and prolonging the war?
Anybody?
Hello?
Is this thing on?
They were provoked by the west. -Mick&Clare
By the way, why are these totalitarian countries provoked so easily?
It'll be a 6 second reference in a 10 minute speech in the parliament, about how America should be condemned as the true aggressor blah blah blah.
Nothing will shift the needle with these craven idiots. Russian generals openly speaking of "liberating" Poland etc won't have fluttered an eyelid.
Mad to think that will probably turn out to be true.
And Trump…
North Korean help? Some trainloads of dodgy aging shells and cheap labour.
Shells that need to be transported near the front lines and stored, all under the watchful eyes in the sky..
I just went to her Twitter page and asked her.
Yes, I under stand very well the need for servicing of all things mechanical, but it would seem that Russian production needs more servicing and repairs than say Western / US /UK products. And I've first hand experience of what comes off Russian assembly lines. Not impressed, to say the least.
"Nice trainload of munitions you got there...be a shame if something happened to it..."
That's interesting. Had no idea they had that capacity. The larger vessels will hurt more but interesting that they have the capacity to transfer some at least. Thanks.
True, because of the sonar array some at the front of the keel.
And the police killed more of the Military than the other way around. That doesn't sound great
The police would have been better trained and in the job far longer, 5. 10, or 15 years possibly, while the soldiers would have what? 6 mths max? Maybe even less.
Also the rearline military might be armed with Mosin Nagant's or maybe Berdan rifles
Exactly the response I expected and hoped. Hopefully they will use the systemd to shoot down drones while they're still over Ukraine.
Was looking forward to seeing the latest figures. +1 submarine, lol.
+42 artillery systems!!!! Good day was had.
If the Russian military bombed the daylights out of where ever they are living, they would both still be finding excuses for them.
Wallace could be blacking out, Putin's hands wrapped around his throat as he choked the life from the MP, and Wallace would simply croak "typical America, NATO imperialism...".
I only hope he & Daly are in the pocket of Moscow and have a rake of cash being funnelled into their accounts - cos if their viewpoints are a genuine intellectual position that America's really to blame? Then they're just idiots. I can at least understand greed, the urge to accumulate money for its own sake or to provide for your family.
Interesting from the BBC this morning:
The reports on the lack of professionalism of the Russian pilots is very telling. You would imagine that someone in charge of a multi-million asset like an SU-27 would be properly trained.
It's an astonishing amount of incompetence. From the commands given to the behaviour on the pilots. Then the dud missile is the icing on the cake.
Contrast it with the skillful use of SU-24s on the Ukrainian side.
During all of this, I tend to keep an eye on the Armenia / Azerbaijan conflict, in particular in realtion to the fighting over Nagorno-Karabakh.
Armenia has been one of the few nations that Russia could still count as friendly over the past years, and due to that Russian "Peacekeepers" are posted in Karabakh to protect the Armenian exclave there. This was part of a peace deal after the 2020 war where Azerbaijan recaptured a lot of ground.
Now it's starting to look like Armenia is pivoting away from the Kremlin and is even planning military drills with the US. If this is all true, I wonder if this will trigger a similar move with any of the other CIS members who still give Russia the time of day?
That's the completely different approach to aircrew training & operational doctrine on full display. Enough training to get a fighter in the air, to the target and back onto the ground, with some capacity for emergency situations like engine failures, but nothing else. No tactical training, no situational awareness, nothing. It's the same type of attitude we saw during the shootdown of Korean Air Lines flight 007 over Sakhalin back in the 1980s.
Something doesnt add up here, 2 missiles were fired but neither hit the slow moving surveillance plane?
The Guardian reporting that the Crimean air defense system has been destroyed, oh moma . Tonight is gonna be fun if true
What air defence doing?
Yes... Russian air defence system worth 1 billion taken out in Crimea in wave attack.
