I actually went to my own GP yesterday for piece of mind, he confirmed what I was already told, they are called an epididymis
as per Dr. Google
"Less than 1% of all vasectomies give rise to epididymitis, or swelling and tenderness near the testes. The condition is usually caused by engorgement of the epididymal tubules with sperm rather than bacteria. Epididymitis is managed by application of heat and wearing of support. "
I’m can fully understand not wanting kids but how can you despise kids?
It's a useful thread,no point in asking questions about a post from twelve years ago.
Im booked in for the 27th in Dr John Mc Cormickin Cork.
Aside from Jockstrap is there any additional stuff required ?
I see the mention of shaving, Can immack be used instead ?
Re: shaving, i guess immac would also work. With either, better to try it now in case you have a strong reaction to it. You don't want to be going there with a massive rash.
I went totally overboard and shaved the whole area. You only need the back of your penis that rests against your scrotum, and the front of your scrotum.
Actually it is quite nice to have shaved balls. I have shaved them a few times since!
It might be worthwhile getting a jockstrap and cup to protect yourself from impact.
Just curious regarding sex post vasectomy if there is any "difference in sensation" during ejaculation - now that you are essentially firing blanks??
All exactly the same as before, there just isnt any sperm in the semen. The only difference there might be at the start is your own mentality, which quickly disappears after the first few times when you realise its exactly the same as before.
I will 2nd this. Was a small part of my brain thinking crazy thoughts. After the first successful test all will be well. Everything back to normal.
My error there, I never looked at the post date.
Also for me. No difference in sensation, no difference in the consistency of your cum or how far/fast it flies.
Only difference is the confidence of knowing you can go skin-to-skin and have no worries about pregnancy.
Has anyone any noticeable drop in testosterone levels after the procedure?
Had to look up symptoms of low testosterone to be sure.
None of them for me. Sex drive is better if anything as Trondheim says above no worries about skin to skin.
Beard has gotten thicker in last 5.5 years if anything.
No extra weight but Ive been off the drink since the new year so thats probably the reason for that. Was carrying about an extra stone Id say before that.
Easy to say you’ll be grand. Got mine done 3 months ago now. Sore for about 4 days (wear a tight fitting jock strap) I found these excellent. Follow the doc’s advice and you will be grand.
The fear is normal you’ll look back once it’s done and you’ll wonder why.
best of luck.
Just had my pre op call.
Starting to get real now. hot damn.
You're probably done by now. Hope it went well.
Best of luck. Genuinely you won’t look back.
So it was a bit of an anticlimax, if you'll excuse the pun.
Psyched myself up, drove to the clinic, and spent the longest 11 minutes of my life in the waiting room, felt like a life time.
After being examined, it turns out i'm not a candidate for the no needle version and i'll need to go for a full vasectomy under general. bit of a dose.
I didn't realise you could be a "non-viable" candidate. Will the other method be more expensive?
Curious what makes someone non-viable, if you are willing to share.
I had a procedure at an infant for an undecended testicle, and that has caused some complications that i wasn't aware of, including some scar tissue.
The full vasectomy under general will be around 1500. triple the price, still cheaper than raising a human tho.
Very true!
Sorry to hear that.
Will the full vasectomy still be with the same doctor?
No it's a different doctor in Waterford City. Shame, i liked John, very pleasant.
Any recommendations for someone around Limerick city?
I'd imagine the first horn you'd get post op would be a painful one! 😁
Its only the wondering thats painful. Wondering if everything will feel and function the same. Probably the most relief Ive felt in my life when everything did feel and function the same that first time post op.
Fail rate story would freak me out as well .
16 weeks post op. Sample sent awaiting results.
Hey Lads,
Had my procedure last Friday still experiencing a dull pain in my testicles right one in particular. Feels like it's inside as opposed on the outside
Not agonizing but would stop you from excercising etc.
Is it normal to be experiencing this pain still after a week ?
A lot of conflicting information online.
I have no bruising or swelling just a pain internally as such
